Doctor pushed down really hard on stomach during ultrasound

Went into maternity today for a check as I was worried about how little movement I’d felt from baby all day. They did a CTG and everything was fine but because I’d been in before with reduced movement they wanted to do a scan. The doctor pushed so hard down on my stomach when he was scanning, especially as he was scanning over the babies head. I know realistically baby is fine but I’ve been worrying since I came home that it might somehow have caused harm with how hard he pushed down. Please someone tell me I’m being ridiculous and that I don’t need to worry!

You really don't need to worry. Sounds normal.

It’s pretty normal, especially if you’re heavier unfortunately. Baby will definitely be totally fine.

The doctor doing the scan obviously isn’t going to do harm to the baby, they no what they are doing. This sounds normal, don’t worry

Sometimes things can be hard to visualise depending on many factors. Sorry it was so painful but it won't have caused harm to baby. I was attacked by a patient with them kicking and hitting my bump- scanned within half an hour and baby was happily sucking her thumb in there! All fine. It would take a lot more force to cause any harm.

I’m pretty sure they’ve done that with me each time, you want to say ‘hey, ease up there!’

Yes don’t worry! Depending on baby’s size and position it can take a little investigating. I had midwife work out where baby was with her hands and I hadn’t realised how tender my lower abdomen was, so possibly you have a bit of this too where the pushing is even more emphasised because of local sensitivity.
