Positive pregnancy test after miscarriage and negative hCG blood results

Hi
I had a miscarriage recently which required weekly hormone blood tests at hospital as my levels weren’t dropping. They finally dropped and on 16/03 hcg was 8 and 23/03 it was 3 which they were happy was negative and discharged.
Still no period and have been feeling really lethargic this weekend so I did a test today and instantly got a strong positive line.
Is this a new pregnancy or something/somehow related to my miscarriage?
thanks

Assuming you've had sex, I'd say a new pregnancy. X

Sorry to suggest the opposite but I had strong positives for quite a while after my last miscarriage. Could be either really. Get yourself to EPU and let them work it out.

Yes same, but once you test negative on a blood test you won't test positive on a pregnancy test.

Oh yes sorry, I didn't have blood tests. That does sound better. Fingers crossed for you!

You need to give the EPAU a call and they’ll probably want to take further bloods. When I had very low bloods and was discharged they told me to test in 2 weeks and ring if still positive. I tested after a week and still had a line but by week 2 it was gone. I think they’ll want to investigate.

If you have had sex could be a new pregnancy. But after my TFMR my hcg dropped to 3 on a blood test at the hospital yet I was still getting faint positives on easy at home tests, it was not a new pregnancy and I was reading the results in the required time. It wasn’t a batch issue either as the same was happening with first response tests. I would also try a different brand of test.

Thank you. I’ve rang them and they said it is definitely a new pregnancy, didn’t want to see me :/. I’ve tested again on clear blue weeks which is saying 3+ weeks. I’m thinking if it was the previous one surely the line would be faint and weeks low? Treating this with caution don’t want to get ahead of myself ❤️
