FTM help - what is a carrycot and do we need one?!

FTM here and a little confused about prams, any help appreciated!

Understand we need a pram that has a lay flat attachment for newborn plus a seated attachment for later. What I am struggling to understand is what the difference is between a bassinet and a carrycot? Or are the terms interchangeable? Do all bassinets have a handle by which you can lift it out of the pram and use for naps?

A bassinet is the same as a moses basket and a carrycot is usually the pram part of a travel system which detaches from the pushchair frame. Usually with a top carry handle. It is suitable for night time sleeping.
