Expecting twins in 2026?

I just wanted to connect with other mums expecting twins.
I am currently 10+5, IVF pregnancy after single embryo transfer (so identical twins), believed to be DCDA but tbc.
It was a bit of a shock at first (logistics, finance, also the more difficult pregnancy) so would love to hear about other people’s experience.

Hi there I have been looking at prams and thinking to get the joie estrella. Seen some videos on TikTok and it seems sturdy and lightweight. Had a look at it at smyths toys and it seems good for our budget. I’ve seen a lot of rave about this donkey brand but it’s over 1k 😭
i also think side by side is better so they both can see the world around them. I saw a stacked one and the bottom twin would just be looking at the bottom of the top seat & I feel it would be heavier to Manouver around especially up hill roads. Which ones are you looking at? X

@AlwaysPurple I’m looking at the out and about double nipper. I saw one on the street and it looked quite tidy. Only 70something wide. It’s a bit pricey but I would look to sell on afterwards and seems you can get half your 💸 back.

stuck on cots. I like the idea of the next to mes…but prefer the aesthetic of a traditional cot.

Seems the side by side is favoured for twins, tandem may be more suitable for a toddler and newborn.

Re cots, we had both with our first - moses basket next to our bed til she was about 6 months, then moved her into cot in her own room. Think we will do the same this time, once we've moved DD into a proper bed. Which room she'll be in and whether she shares with anyone remains to be decided!! A couple of friends have kindly offered us their moses basket/next2me.

We've gone for a bugaboo donkey (not brand new though cos they are so expensive!). I didn't fancy the in-line ones cos I didn't want one staring at the back of the other.

Cots has been a whole headache! I quite like to twin next-to-me cots, but they're about a metre square and there wouldn't be space between the wall, the cot and the bed! We've already got a snuzpod for our first so think I'm going to get another one as they're slimmer and put them side by side.

I like the look of it but Everybody tells me donkey doesn’t fit in any door (I live in London so need something that’s city friendly, I had a yo-yo for my singleton and loved it).

Feeling stuck - not sure what to choose.
I am very frustrated some brands don’t show the twin settings on pictures. Interesting re tandem being for toddler and baby and side by side for twins.
Have you thought about carriers? My son lived in the babybjorn - hated the buggy

The bugaboo doesn't fit through my front door tbf! 😂 but planning to store it in the car anyway which is what I did with my first. And I think it should fit through most of the shops etc that we'll go to (but we're not city based tbf!)

My son wouldn't use the pram at all until he could sit up in it (literally made it 10 seconds without crying in the carrycot!) so I had a wrap which I wore constantly!! I've YouTubed how to use it with twins and also got a weego carrier off vinted. I haven't used a structured carrier like the babybjorn before, but the weego got good views so hopefully it'll be good! I need something that I can put them in to get them to the car as its not right outside our house (and need a hand free for toddler too!).

We have just bought a Chicco next2me twin cot which I feel was the best choice for us, though it is quite big!

Pram wise weren't sure but looking at second hang puggle memphis 2in1.

Twin carriers not sure yet but do like the look of the fabric ones

How is everyone doing? I'm 20 weeks now, got my scan on Thursday. We've decided to find out what we're having but keep it secret from everyone. Is anyone managing to do any exercise? With singleton pregnancy I did yoga/pilates and swam regularly. I keep intending to go for an evening swim but by 7pm I'm falling asleep! Although I did manage to mow the lawn last night which had got very long!

@AlwaysPurple that's exciting! Hope the scan goes well! I couldn't keep my mouth shut for 5 minutes when we found out what we were having haha! 😂

I'm 29 weeks now and exercise...? Not managing anything at all, to be honest. Unless you count chasing after an almost 3 year old or climbing up 3 flights of stairs at work multiple times a day (thankfully I've been moved now!). I had great intentions of trying to do something (yoga sounds really nice!) but just so uncomfortable with a sore back/hips! 😥Mowing the lawn definitely counts! 😆

@AlwaysPurple Daytime I can manage a bit but after 7pm, no chance. Haven’t been able to try any jogging in the heatwaves.

I’m halfway through now. Seems they do a lot of growing in the last half. My bump is still fairly modest I think though they’re growing well.

When did you or when do you plan to work until? I need to decide fairly soon. I have a desk job and can wfh. With first pregnancy I worked to 37 weeks, which obviously won't happen this time. Is 34 weeks too late?!

@AlwaysPurple I'm a teacher so just finished for the summer holidays at 31 weeks (32 now) and I honestly don't think I could have done much longer. I guess it depends on your symptoms etc. but for me, my bump would hurt so badly by lunchtime from standing up/pressure/general stretch and weight that I had to lie down in the staffroom for 10 mins (looking like a right weirdo! Lol) everyday at lunch.

34 doesn't sound too bad if you're mostly sitting down and are able to go have a lie down if you need it though!

How is everyone doing? I’m 23 weeks now. Recently properly started to feel them move. I think my bump is still quite compact but I’m also quite small and wondering how much it will expand, the growth curve from now seems steep.

May I introduce Ellie and Jack, born at 37 weeks on the dot on Friday 28th August. I'm hoping the picture attaches! Both 5 pounds 11 and Jack was actually born in his sac which is meant to be quite rare/lucky! 💜💙

I'm 30 weeks now and very grateful the weather has cooled down. Definitely starting to feel more tired and limited lung capacity, and having to more deliberately pace myself and rest. A bit worried what I'm going to wear for the next 7 weeks, as most of my maternity tops are starting to get tight.... I do have a couple of dresses which have some give in them. Maybe I need to buy a couple of maternity t shirts in sizes a lot bigger than my normal.

We've got most things we need now, including an absolute mountain of vests and babygros from a friend who had twins last year. But still need pram, and to pack hospital bags for me and babies.

Congrats @LunaBear26, they’re lovely! Amazing they’re the exact same size. How are you finding things?

@AlwaysPurple i found a lot of my maternity clothes stopped fitting quite early, keep needing to buy extra bits, and on vinted I ask if they fit till the end now. Have you decided which pram to get?

My small bump is small no more only 5 weeks later. It’s huge! I’ve been so fatigued, was almost relieved to learn I’m iron deficient so at least I can do something about it and hopefully feel more alive soon.

@bluepurplegreen we're doing well, thanks. Recovering from c section slowly and getting to grips with newborns and a toddler! 😆

Hopefully with some extra iron, you'll be feeling a lot better! 🙏 How long have you got to go now?

I've been put on ferrous sulphate to boost iron - definitely feel a bit better for it. Though does need to be accompanied by regular laxative and prunes!!

@LunaBear26 aw glad you’re all doing well. Must be so nice to have them here!
I’m nearing 29 weeks and aiming for 36 weeks. It all got real fast.

@AlwaysPurple I’ve just started ferrous sulphate. No mega change yet but it hasn’t been long. Trying to eat things like porridge and fruit.

This week the tiredness has really hit me. I'm 33 weeks and first week of mat leave. I've become properly miserably and impatient with toddler and intolernt of her (normal!) Noise. The only place I can get vaguely comfy is the sofa but of course toddler wants to climb on me, grab my book and water bottle, wants me to play with her. Argh! I just don't have the energy to deal with her. She doesn't go to nursery or anything as DH is SAHD. But they are home most of the time because he is busy cooking dinner or doing other house chores which I also have no energy for. Just looking after myself and getting a last few jobs sorted before twins arrive takes all my energy.

@AlwaysPurple sorry you're finding it tough! I have a toddler too and the last few weeks were a bit difficult with him as well! I have to say though, although there have been other challenges, it has been better in terms of tiredness with newborns + toddler compared to pregnant + toddler! And I say that even as I'm surviving on 3 hours sleep haha!

Can you go to your parents/relative/friend's house for a rest? My toddler will not leave me alone if I'm in the house, even if others are there to play etc. I went round to my parents' house quite a bit to get rest before the twins were born!

That's encouraging to hear that in some ways it has got a bit easier since twins arrived. I'm also hopeful that things will be a little easier because we will have grandparents staying with us quite a bit to start with so they can take toddler out.

That's a good idea on going to someone else's house to get a bit of rest. I'll ask my child free friend!
