I wanted to write my experience as this last week has been torture and I have been searching for reassurance stories. At my 36 week growth scan my babies femurs were found to be kn the 1st percentile (just) nearly below. Prior to that at 33 weeks they were 5th (no one concerned) ans before that 13th at 28 weeks ans 30th at 20 weeks. Otherwise normal scans. Head abs abdo around 80th percentile at 36 weeks. My sonographer took many readings and also checked with colleagues and was very confident these readings were accurate and referred me to fetal medicine. I spent a week relentlessly googling types of skeletal dysplasia and chromosomal abnormalities, asking advice from chatgpt and searching for similar stories to mine. I waited a week and a half for a fetal medicine appointment and they remeasured the bones and the femur was actually on the 16th percentile and no other concerns noticed. She felt the sonographer hadn't used an accurate line to measure. She said it's very common they aren't measured accurately this late on and ita a common referral which often doesn't amount to anything. I was so convinced that mine wasn't going to be a case of inaccurate measurement but it just goes to show how hard it really is to get accurate measurements of femurs even with multiple sonographers checking and likely the result will be different when you get to fetal medicine!!
