IVF pregnancies - when did you get your positive pregnancy test result?

Hi there,
Am just wondering whether any of you thought you weren't pregnant but went on to have a late positive test result?

I'm currently 14 days post egg collection and had 3 good quality embryos transferred 12 days ago but when I tested this morning with an ultra early test it was negative. I know it should have shown up by now. The clinic says to test 14 days post egg transfer, which will be Friday, but I fear the worst. Have just turned 43, does that make a difference to HCG levels and detection?

Any one got any positive stories of successful pregnancies which appeared hopeless at this stage??

Yes, I did. I did a test 2 days before I should have, no line, 2 days later, there was a VERY faint one. Went on to have a healthy DD.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, I know how hard it is. I don't want to get your hopes up but not everyone gets positive results from pg tests early on. You can get a wrong negative but never a wrong positive ifswim.

I doubt your age will affect HCG levels, not heard of that before.

Are you going to the hospital on Friday for them to do a test?

Hi, thanks for replying. It does give me a little hope. Had IVF in December too which was a bit of a disaster - it produced only one good grade embryo but I began bleeding 9 days post embryo transfer. This time I've had intramuscular progesterone injections and with the good quality embryos thought I had a chance of at least one sticking. Am trying to be realistic (who am I kidding)

I just have to do another urine pg test myself on Friday. Hoping for a little second line...

It is horrible when you are so desperate for a baby, it's like a void that you can never fill. It is something you cannot change and have no control over, you just have to leave it in the hands of nature. The only way I used to think was if it is meant to be, it will be. It takes over your life doesn't it?

Are you having any symptoms?

No, no symptoms at all. For the first week or so, after embryo transfer, I had tender boobs but now nothing anywhere. I thought the progesterone injections were supposed to cause side effects.

I am lucky that I have a daughter but two years ago we lost our little boy during pregnancy at 4.5 months (he was perfect - was medical negligence) and you are right, trying to conceive does take over your life but at some stage you have to say 'no more'. I guess this might be the time

Oh I am so sorry to hear that Painting, how sad.

I am 6 weeks pg with number 3 (changed my name now) and DD1 was IVF, DD2 was total shock (natural pg) and DC3 is an even bigger shock (natural again). I was giving a million to one chance of conceiving naturally - have done so twice, just shows you that miracles happen, don't give up hope.

I'm watching this with interest, PR, and sending you lots of good wishes. You are exactly where I suspect - hope - I will be in 2-3 weeks time.

I am also 43 and going for egg collection in a couple of days - I have 10-12 good eggs apparently (not sure if that's good: sounds it - only got 1 on the first regime which they didn't even bother collecting). My specialist is muttering darkly about not confusing quantity with quality though, what with my age etc.

I will be allowed to have 3 embryos replaced, assuming we get to that stage.

We actually have 2 other DCs and have been trying some time for a third. Having been through a number of tests it was clear that really this was going to be the only feasible way forward. So we are giving it a go, but TBH not investing all of our time and hopes in it - we both have quite demanding full time jobs and two lovely lively happy children and if that is all there is to be, then we are happy and very lucky already. Like you, we are also quite clear that a time will come - and, probably, soon - to say "no more". (But I still want another baby!)

old bint - good luck with your egg collection. I assume they mean you have a cluster of 10-12 follicles as its not possible to tell if the follicles all have eggs in them. apparently they expect 75% of follicles to contain an egg.
I had a cluster of 7-8 and then another smaller cluster of approx 7. they couldn't wait for the smaller ones to cross the magic 15mm line though as the larger cluster ones would have been too big so they only collected 7 eggs altogether. of these, 1 didnt fertilise, 3 fertilised abnormally and the other 3 were either top grade or nearly top grade which were obviously the ones they transferred.
a cluster of 10-12 follicles sounds very promising for you though - my consultant always says 12-15 is ideal but can't be expected in older women.

Sadly it was negative again today so have been told to stop gestone injections and just wait for AF to arrive. Am actually a lot calmer today, perhaps just resigned but coping okay. Life goes on....

Oh I am so sorry, what a blow. I suppose at least you know for sure now, there is nothing worse than continually waiting. Keep your chin up.

Just wondering if anyone took an early hpt after embryo transfer? I'm had a 3 day transfer last Monday so I'm 8 days post... I've been told to wait until day 13 but I'm really struggling now :-(

I need some advice. I am currently 8 days post 5 day blastocyst frozen embryo transfer and im still getting BFN's i am just about ready to give up. I am
Supposed to do test on sunday as instructed by the hospital so ive 2 days left. Has anyone ever got a BFP this late? My fresh ivf cycle 2 years ago i got positive results from 4 days after!!

Nikki what test are you using? I tested 9dp a 5 day transfer.

Hi im using first response early response, i did test with clear blue early detection and get faint lines but. Then got nothing from 6 days past transfer & all first response early ones ive done have been negative. Also clear blue digital have been negative.

Hi. I had my 3rd IVF transfer on 11th June last week. Two grade A blastocysts were transferred and the 2 week wait us killing me! Gave in to temptation and took s pregnancy test yesterday, so one week after transfer. It was negative and I'm very upset. Was it too early or have any of you lovely ladies had a positive test one week after IVF transfer? 🙄
