Proof of due date

I'm 7+5 and just had my booking in appointment. I have a cruise booked for early Summer and will just be past the maximum gestation for the cruise line. I've contacted the agent and they have said we can cancel and they will try and get the cruise line to let us cancel without penalty as a gesture of goodwill. The problem is, they need proof of my due date and that I'll be over the limit during the sailing (which is fair enough) but I don't actually seem to be able to get any kind of document from anyone that confirms my due date? Everything is done via an app and although I can see my pregnancy related appointments but there is literally nothing that has my due date on it. Will this appear eventually, such as after the 12 week scan? I need to pay the balance by 1st April and if there's a chance that they won't let me cancel without penalty, I'd rather just lose the deposit now than the full amount further down the line when I might (or might not) be able to obtain some proof. Does anyone have any experience of providing pregnancy evidence or even know what to expect in terms of paperwork further down the line?

The 12 week scan is a dating scan, so presumably nothing in writing until then as you could be measuring ahead/behind and the date is adjusted

Perfect28 · 25/03/2026 16:41

You'll need to wait for the 12 week scan

MickeyMouseEars · 25/03/2026 16:45

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. Does anyone know if I will actually get something that says my due date on it once the 12 week scan is done? Or if anyone has also been pregnant recently and had all their notes on the app, was there something on there after the scan that stated your due date? The midwife I saw today didn't seem to think so, so as I mentioned, if I'm not going to, I'd rather lose the deposit now than the full amount in a couple months time...

Your Mat1B form is the official proof - and not issued until after 20 weeks.

Can you change dates without the proof?

You won't get anything official this early in your pregnancy, sorry.

They may not need anything official if it is just goodwill. Can you ask your GP surgery or midwife to write you an email or letter confirming the dates?

I asked the midwife who said no, ask the GP and the GP surgery said no, but we'll fill in an insurance form otherwise use the info on the app

We can change dates without proof but we have to take the revised cruise within 12 months of the original cruise and there's the possibility (because we are restricted to school holidays) that the one available cruise that we could feasibly move to, the baby will not actually be old enough to go...

Can you ask some local private scan clinics if their scan photos would show an estimated due date?

This is a brilliant idea! Thank you!

Who’s it with? Royal Caribbean let me cancel with just telling them my due date, and refunded the deposit

Runkle · 25/03/2026 19:45

You could get a private scan which should indicate GA and/or EDD.

I'm currently pregnant and whilst most of my notes are online, I did still get a paper copy of the scan report at the dating (12 week scan) which does say EDD.
