Currently 8w3d. Started cramping on Thursday afternoon, period style cramps. Friday morning I started spotting brown at first, then pink, then bright red. This carried on all Friday (tried to get GP appt on Friday but was unsuccessful) Saturday it slowed down ever so slightly and went back to brown spotting, this whole time I still had the period style cramps. Sunday morning however I started bleeding heavily with large clots and heavy cramping. I was changing my pad every hour or so. This morning I got a GP referral and have been scanned my EPU who have said I have a. ‘Pregnancy of unknown location‘ they have taken my bloods and said to come back in 2 days for a repeat blood test.
I don’t get how a pregnancy can pass this quickly? Surely it must be a mistake? I think I’m holding on hope for a miracle but wondered if anyone had any success stories where baby was healthy? Thank you 🩷

I also had a scan at 8wks after bleeding and they couldn't see anything. By 8wks there should definitely be something to see on the scan so I wouldn't think a miracle was possible here, I'm so sorry.

My PUL management was quite easy though - one injection then a couple of weeks more of bleeding, no terrible cramping or anything.

I'd keep pushing for regular blood tests and scans because a PUL can turn nasty if it ruptures.

Sorry, but it does sound like an early miscarriage and you passed it on Sunday.

The follow up is really important, so it’s good they’re seeing you again.

Was yours an ectopic? What injection did they give you? They did mention this but seem to think it’s a complete miscarriage. I just don’t get how everything can pass so quickly. :(

Edited

I just don’t get how a whole pregnancy can pass so quickly to the point it’s not visualised in a day.
Another blood test on Wednesday then to move on and grieve.
Thank you 🩷

I’m very sorry to hear. I had similar experiences and it was a miscarriage, for me it was only 2 days, the large clots are essentially the fetus. I had blood test and asked to go back a couple of days to retest to ensure the hcg level are coming down to ensure no further intervention are needed.

How many blood tests did you need? I have to go back to the gynae day unit which is right next to the delivery suite, I’m feel sick at the thought of going back there for another blood test 😔
I’m also sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you’re healing 🩷

I had one when I went there after passing a lot of blood and clots, then another a couple of days later. I think my hcg level dropped enough so they were okay. Otherwise I think they would want you back again to ensure things are within expectation.
i know things must be really hard right now and so was it for me at the time but a friend told me and I think it was helpful, especially after once I have passed the initial grief. The reason we have miscarriage is often something is not right, whether the fetus or our body isn’t in the right condition, if it’s a faulty plane, you’d rather it doesn’t take off. I hope things are okay for you and remember this doesn’t mean you won’t another pregnancy later.
