Autism listed under learning disabilities on pregnancy notes after booking appointment

Hi, I had my first booking appointment the other day and I disclosed that I have autism. On my record under learning disabilities they've marked autism.
I wouldn't have classed it or myself as having learning difficulties.
Is this just the only option for them to put it under on the form?

It's quite common to have autism listed under learning disabilities on forms. Technically it's a neurodiversity I think.

Autism is not a Learning Disability, it’s a neurodivergence. I train NHS staff in this area so I find it incredibly frustrating when they use the incorrect terminology.
@Lavenderhaze1989 at your next appointment, I would ask for an email address for someone you can contact about the form. You could then send an email which might feel more comfortable than a conversation, to feedback that it is incorrect and you would appreciate it if they change it.

Why would you mention youre autistic if you didnt need adjustments and wanted it noting?

I kmow some people with autism can also have learning difficulties but I don't. Or at least no ones ever told me I have ! I'll flag it at my next appointment.

Because she was going through the form asking the questions and specifically asked if I have a disability. Autism is a disability and I thought it was best they knew. While I might not think I need adjustments now this is my first baby so I wanted to make sure they had all the information in case anything popped up in the future.

I work in education and it comes down from the government as a learning difficulty so I'd imagine the NHS is similar. It's only a hierarchical heading, don't worry about it

You might want adjustments for using a wheelchair. Would you be happy with it listed under ‘learning disability’?

Ooh interesting. I listed my autism during my booking in appointment but I don’t remember it coming under learning difficulty (we’re in Sussex). I would have objected as well as I wouldn’t have wanted them to have an incorrect impression in regard to what assistance/adaptions I needed.
