Six months postpartum, missed period after ovulation, negative tests, could I be pregnant?

Hi guys! Bit of a long winded one here 🤣

so me and my boyfriend did the deed 14th of Feb, obviously😜 and around that time I was ov and since then I haven’t had my period. I’m 6 months postpartum and have had my cycle back bang on since November, I’ve taken pregnancy test and they’ve been negative, the last one I took was about a week ago. Is there a possibility I could be pregnant or could it be the fact my hormones are all over the shop still and my cycles are adjusting?

TIA😊

I'd take another test now, high chances you're pregnant!

At six months postpartum, it’s quite common for cycles to be irregular as hormones are still adjusting, even if they seemed regular before. Negative pregnancy tests are reassuring, but if your period continues to be delayed, it might be worth checking in with your doctor to rule out any other hormonal or health factors.

@sophiasmithh thank you for your reply!! Me and my boyfriend did like the thought of 2 babies being close in age but then 2 under 2 is a wild ride I’ve heard🤣 I think it’s purely the fact we had done the dirty right around the time I was meant to be ov, otherwise I wouldn’t even be questioning pregnancy! If I have no joy with the wicked witch arriving by the end of the month I’ll go to the GP!

@Humanswarm but I haven’t had any positive tests? With my first baby I tested positive 2 days after my missed period!

why wait until the end of the month? Just take another test now. It’ll be positive now if you are pregnant

I'llBuyThatForADollar · 17/03/2026 22:40

I didn’t have a period after my first for over a year

RubyVictoria97 · 17/03/2026 22:50

@whatthehelldowecare i took a test a week ago and it was negative? Surely it’d show by now if I was but I’m 16 days late. I said in my previous comment I’m going to go to GP to speak about other factors at the end of the month if it doesn’t arrive by then.

@I'llBuyThatForADollar but I’ve had periods! Baby was born September and they’ve been back like clock work since November 🤔 I’m not breastfeeding either, he’s been formula fed since he came out of NICU at 2 weeks old!

Just bevajse you habe done tests before doesn't mean you're not pregnant. I had negative tests and then went on to find out I was pregnant. Bit also like OPs have said, it could be hormonal. The only way to know is to do another test.

RubyVictoria97 · 18/03/2026 21:35

@Humanswarm but how long after did you test positive? I’m on day 18 now and no period but tested about a week or so ago and it was negative, surely it would’ve shown up by now!

You need to test again. If it’s still negative see the GP but it could well be positive by now.

Humanswarm · 18/03/2026 22:16

I tested weekly...I can't recall the actual time between as it was 15 years ago now! I feel like you're stressing over this now so wouldn't the best thing be just to retest?

RubyVictoria97 · 19/03/2026 17:04

@Humanswarm not so much stressing just curious as I have a 6 month old baby so need to prepare myself 🤣
@ExperiencedTeacher I’m going to go to the shops tomorrow and grab a test so we’ll see!
