34 weeks, had "funny turn", ended up on labour ward hooked up to ECG. Anyone else had this?

This is my third pregnancy and this has never happened before. I was on my way to an entenatal appointment. I was not rushing, hot, tired, stressed, etc. As I got off the bus, I suddenly got chest pains (in hind sight, it was high on my chest and probably more to do with breathing), felt short of breath, dizzy. As I walked on, it got worse and I had trouble breathing, felt heavy arms and legs. I almost went into A+E (much closer than the maternity hospital to where I was), but decided to keep going. Was in a bit of a state by the time I got to the clinic. I was seen right away by a consultant who checked me over and found nothing. I ended on labour ward having a ecg but after 2.5 ours in the hospital, they found nothing and let me go home.

So, has anyone else had this happen? What triggered it? Although they were very good at the hospital, they only said to come back if it happened again rather than giving me any advice to prevent it.

Any thoughts?

Have you had your iron levels checked lately?

I did when 39 weeks pregnant. Christmas Day. DS1 had screamed non-stop all day. Suddenly went all dizzy and weird. Blood pressure had shot up (mum took it straight after the funny turn) and it was something like 260/140.

I went into the maternity ward. They monitored me for a few hours, gave me a cup of tea and a TV to watch and my blood pressure came slowly down.

Got home at about midnight and ds1 was still screaming!

Oh it was my third pregnancy too. I think there's just so little chance to slow down in a 3rd pregnancy that it's just much harder.

i had it to i was about 36 weeks and had stumbled on the bus and pulled a muscle in my arm that somehow manifested itself in my back i was panicking shallow breathing and ended up being rushed to hospital stayed there most of the day having an ECG and being monitored- they wanted me to stay in as i was booked for a c section at 38 weeks but i signed myself out and came home and was ok then (i was there all day being checked and wasnt offered cup of tea or a snack dh had rushed me there nd we were unprepared and he had to go to the bank in the town to get some money to buy me a drink lol.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was definatyely not a panic attack as I was calm and not especially stressed when it happened. My blood pressure was checked at the hospital and was fine (I have not had high blood pressure at all). They took blood to check my iron levels after it happened, but I don't know the results yet. Yes, I am under a lot of stress. We are moving the day after tomorow. However, at the time, I was lucky enough to not even have my other two kids with me so was feeling less stressed than normal!

I have to say that it did feel like I would imagine a panic attack would feel like (not had one before) but I was not paniced until I couldn't breathe!

Are you eating enough? I had a few funny turns towards the end of my second pregnancy and was in and out of hospital to be checked up on. Turns out I wasn't eating enough, they knew because there were nitrates in my urine. I had dizzy spells, felt sick and weak and had palpitations etc. Just a thought....

Hmmmm......well, I have a really high BMI so generally eat ok That morning I had a piece of toast with peanut butter on and a glass of juice about 30 minutes before this happened.
