late conception date - measuring behind but heartbeat?

I am quite confused. Found out a few weeks ago that i was pregnant, went for a scan a week ago & was dated as 6 weeks with measurements (internal scan). This mapped exactly with what i thought as we only DTD on one day in that month & would work with the dates

However i went again & have been dated as 6 weeks 2 days again. however, there is a strong heartbeat. the midwife was not worried at all as she said last week was so early the measurements could be inaccurate. she even called me a few hours later having looked at the scans from last week & said she was confident that everything looked good & if it had stopped growing there would not be a heartbeat

the thing that is confusing me is that the only way these dates can make sense, is if 'conception date' was 5 days after DTD - is this possible? my cycles arent the most regular because of having a one year old so im not sure exaclty when i ovulated

Sperm can live for 5 days so it’s still possible that your dates are correct.

My dates were all over the place with my first. Id give it a couple of weeks and maybe book another scan if you can to put your mind at ease x

My tv scan at 6 weeks and ta scan at 7 weeks were both behind, at least a week for first one. had a 9 week scan and was about 4/5 days behind, half emptied bladder and rescanned and only 1/2day behind. Every scan since including 20 week has been spot on. (IVF pregnancy) Had lots of nhs scans due to med history, so the results were all as reliable as they could be, it’s just that it’s truly difficult to be accurate so early. Sounds like your sonographer was quite confident all was well, I doubt they’d call you back to reassure you if they had doubts.
