Chorionic bump

I am pregnant after IVF and very scared as was told at my 7 week scan there is a chorionic bump.
This is different to a subchorionic hematoma which is more common.
I wanted to hear from anyone who's had one and how your pregnancy went? I know they're not very common.
Getting a rescan at 9 weeks, but today my sickness is better than it's been. This has sent me spiralling although I know sickness can come and go and mine has previously got better one day then come back worse the next. I'm just scared really and wishing I felt as awful as I did yesterday.

I don’t know about the chorionic bump, but on the sickness front, mine lifted and left at 9 weeks (lightened the week before). Also ivf pregnancy.

Ah thank you for replying @aLogLady I have heard of it coming and going a bit. I am 8 weeks tomorrow. Hopefully it's just normal for it to come and go (or maybe I will wake up feeling horrific tomorrow and feel reassured!). Can't help but stress after everything we went through to get here x

Well I hope you do wake up feeling rubbish 🙃 for your peace of mind! But yeah around 8 weeks I noticed feeling comparatively fine and by 9 weeks it hardly showed up again. I had strong aversions which comforted me in the transition. I hope someone comes along with experience of the bump, I had a sch but obvs that’s not the same.

it is such a worrying time when you’ve worked so hard to get there. Great they’re keeping an eye on you with scans, my EPU were very supportive too.

Haha thank you, it's a mad thing to wish upon myself isn't it. I did feel a bit rubbish while eating my tea so feel slightly less anxious now. I'm glad your epu were supportive. Are you currently pregnant or was this a while ago?

I had exactly this found at my 7 weeks scan after ivf. They increased my progesterone slightly I think. It was all fine and gone by 12 weeks and my baby was born healthy. Hope it’s the same for you x

I had this in my 3rd pregnancy. I was really paranoid as my first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage. The chorionic bump baby is now 5 years old! The rest of the pregnancy was problem free.

Oh thank you so much @potentialdogowner and @Covidwoes these stories are exactly what I needed to read tonight! Google is all a bit scary! I'm so glad your pregnancies turned out well xx

Still cooking @Klmno :) 24 weeks. Glad to hear your dinner turned your stomach hehe. To help with anxiety I started to note down the dips and returns in nausea and it helped to see it was just naturally slowing then plateauing alongside normal hcg curve. Glad to see you got some reassurance with the chorionic bump :)

Klmno · 09/03/2026 19:22

Thank you @aLogLady that is a good idea to write down when I feel better so that I don't spiral the next time it happens. I've actually felt horrific today, and the anxiety has eased, so need to remind myself that it ebbs and flows! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well 😊

And yours! ❤️

Just updating this thread for anyone in the future who may be looking for info about a chorionic bump (I hate it when people don't update threads with the outcome).
My 9 week scan was perfect and no sign of the bump now :)
Also my symptoms completely disappeared again two days ago, I didn't feel pregnant at all all day, so as so many people say it's really normal for symptoms to come and go xx
