Crampy, tingly legs waking me up - only 5 weeks!

I'm 5 weeks pregnant with no.4, and had the worst night's sleep I've had for a while last night. I was woken up in the early hours with incredibly painful, tinngly cramps in my lower legs - the only thing that helped a little was circling my ankles. Have never had anything like this at any stage in pregnancy with dds (or when not pregnant), and wondered if it was something associated with pregancy or unrelated? Any advice would be appreciated as I'm dreading it happening again!

Hi Diege, i suffered with bad cramps in my legs when i was pregnant but only from about 30 weeks. My MW told me its common in later pregnancies due to the heavy load you are carrying around in the day, then when you rest a night all the blood supply is working overtime. Im not sure that at 5 weeks this is the same thing but i was told to eat a banana before i went to bed as they have lots of patasium in and help prevent cramp.

I hope you dont suffer anymore & good luck with your pregnancy

Thanks Lully . I've done a quick google, and it is a recognised first trimester symptom, though more common in later stages as you say. Like the idea of a banana before bed, plus (from what I've picked up) a bag of salted crisps and a glass of milk!
