Renal pelvic dilatation

Hi everyone

I had my 20 week scan yesterday and everything looked okay, but baby boy has renal pelvic dilatation. The cut off they said was 7mm and his measurement was 7.2mm. Even though Ive been told this is a very mild case and will probably solve itself before 32 week scan im spiralling tbh. I thought I wasn’t bothered yesterday but now it just feels like a cloud over what was otherwise a really straight forward pregnancy (my last pregnancy was a post-miscarriage pregnancy so I had a lot of anxiety with that one too).

Also important info I had this too when I was a baby, also picked up in my mums ultrasound and I had to have surgery for it. Thankfully I have never had any issues whatsoever (apart from I now have a big scar), so im very grateful. I’m actually more worried that this is just the start of something more sinister.

Anyone have experience with this?

Yes - it was bilateral. One kidney normalised in early childhood and one is still slighted dilated but he’s grown into it and has never had any problems. He is thriving.
