Anyone else at the 18 weeks anxiety stage

I Am just over 18 weeks and this is my second pregnancy.

I am really starting to feel anxious because It feels a long way off till my 20 week scan in 2 weeks.

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and everything was fine but I’m still not feeling much or anything I can concretely say is movement . Maybe some bubble / butterfly type feeling but not sure. Placenta is in the right place.

I am also starting to finally feel better after the worst 1st trimester so with symptoms fading it jus feels weird

anyone else in the same boat?

I have popped my midwife a email today to say I’m feeling a bit anxious so hopefully she will
come back to me.

Hey @Sickallday the stage between 12-20 weeks is a hard stage when you feel better but don’t quite know if that was movement or gas 🙈 It’s the hardest part for anxiety until you feel they definite movements, but they will come 🥰
Try take peace in your 16 weeks scan was all well and healthy 💕 I know it’s hard, I had 2 miscarriages before having my little one who is 2 weeks old and sleeping on my chest right now. So I may not be feeling how you are at this moment but trust me I did feel like that back in sept time, if I could rewind time I would love to of enjoyed my pregnancy so much more now knowing everything was perfectly healthy.

Hopefully your midwife gets back to you today, my midwife was so reassuring for me as I was so anxious too.
Even if needed you could book in another scan but I know they are pricey.
You could try some pregnancy meditation and practice self care some face masks, bubble baths or a wee foot mask. That helped distract me and made me feel little more positive.

Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy 💕

I know it's easier said than done telling you not to worry, I know how you feel, I worry and work myself up too and I'm 18 weeks now and dont feel a lot of movement, mainly flutters at night but that's not every night. Do you have an anterior placenta as I know this cushions kicks/flutters.

LoveYouHoneybear · 07/03/2026 15:51

I’m in the exact same boat! 16 week scan looked good, but I can’t help but feel nervous for the 20 week scan in 2 weeks. Don’t feel any flutters yet and just don’t feel “out of the woods” despite the ongoing nausea and exhaustion symptoms! Hope your reassurance scan went well @Sickallday

Sickallday · 07/03/2026 15:52

Ah thank you both. Re assurance scan went well and everything looked good. 20 week scan is in a week but I am really struggling to imagine a baby at the end and I get worried getting excited so I have asked for a referral for help with my post natal anxiety to see if I can help the escalating bad thoughts. Hoping to have my first appointment next week

Hi! Im also at 18 weeks. I decided to not go for a private scan because I want to trust the process.

We also had 2 early losses before this one so difficult to not get anxious. I can't feel any movement despite being fairly attentive so far but I trust (i try) that they will arrive more around 20 weeks. It's my first one.

Sweetcorn100 · 08/03/2026 11:34

Yes I felt exactly the same in both pregnancies, I’m on the other side now as I’m 21 weeks and we’ve had our scan last week. You just have to get through day by day, soon you’ll wake up in your third trimester and looking back time would have gone so “fast”

Rest and take care of yourself op xx

Again can fully relate, definitely worth telling your midwife how you feel xx

I had a private scan at 15 weeks and they said everything looked good but from what I read about the size of babies at that stage, mine seemed to be on the smaller side so I have been worrying. I have my 20 week scan on Thursday, so excited to see baby again but can't help worry.

My last three pregnancies weren't straight forward. Two were small and growth really slowed and my last was born at 26+3 so this pregnancy i am definitely more anxious. Will feel better after the 20 week scan shows she's growing properly though x

Chai88 · 08/03/2026 20:24

Exactly same here. I’m 18 weeks and don’t feel anything. Third child for me. I feel flutters, but can’t get myself to believe it’s movement, as I struggle with ventricular ectopic heartbeats, in which missed beats are felt in my stomach. So I just think that’s what the flutters are. I haven’t gone for a private scan though, as I love the excitement around the 20 week scan. But know you’re not alone.
