I need help!!!

has any of you struggled to get pregnant after having a c section?

I’ve read a few comments on here that have said they’ve not got pregnant since having a c section? And now I am panicking. I was not told this by health professionals before I had my section? And surely that’s a massive thing to ask especially if you are looking to have more children in the future??

Given more births are c-section than not c-section these days, of course they’ll be many who struggle to conceive after but it’s hard to link it to the c-section? Secondary infertility is very common unfortunately, for many reasons. I wouldn’t base your panic on a few peoples comments on here. If it’s been a while then you could get private testing.

Secondary infertility (regardless of c section of vaginal birth) can affect a lot of women. There are risks to both ways of delivery.

I conceived my Dd within three months of trying, 3 years after having an emergency c section with my son.

Were you not told at all? I had a long chat with the surgeon just before the surgery who went through all of the risks! They didn't state exactly that it could be correlated but they did say there is an increased risk with issues that can affect fertility e.g. scarring, uterine rupture, removing an ovary etc

I became pregnant the first month of trying after a section

I conceived three months after trying for number 2 (first was a csection).

My friend conceived a few months after trying for number 2 as well.

For contrast my friend who had a vaginal birth it took her 9 months to conceived her second.

My first took around 6 months to conceive. Ended in EMCS. I’m now pregnant with our second and it happened in the first cycle.

By comparison my SIL conceived her first in 3 months. Vaginal birth. Took 6 months to conceive her second.

Correlation does not equal causation. So many women have c sections nowadays that a good chunk of those will struggle with fertility for the second regardless
