sorry no one replied, I hope you’re doing okay. If you’re only 35 weeks I’d call the hospital with those symptoms and go get checked out. Could be labour or it could be something else. Either way it’s best to leave to the professionals to know! Hope all goes okay!

How are you getting on @Tazzi39
It might be early labour.

It's normal to get lots of tightenings in the late third trimester. They can also get much more intense, although they should never be painful in and of themselves. Mine frequently press down on my bladder which is where my pain comes from when I have Braxton-Hicks, so the pain is more of a second order consequence.

Source: I'm currently 37+6 with my first.

I have also had a lot of bowel movement 'fun'. Extremes of both ends of the spectrum, ie liquid arse to the point of not being able to pass gas without a mess (sorry if TMI) and not being able to poop having got what feels like rocks stuck way back up in the poop shoot. I bought some Lactulose on the advice of my midwife, but I took a bit too much last night and I went from rock poop to liquid arse in a few hours, It was so painful that I thought contractions had started. I did get a good clearout down there, though, so I must have been backed up for a while. Again, I'm sorry if all this is grossing you out.

Baby is still snug, happy and kicking away so that's good.

The key takeaway is that Braxton-Hicks cannot cause the cervix to soften and widen like true labour contractions can.

I hope you're okay and good luck!
