Will all maternity depts do early scans or does it have to be Early Preg Unit?

Title says it all, really! I have been having some bleeding, seems to have stopped now but have doc's appt tomorrow and want to ask for an early scan (I had a chemical preg in March and am 40 so...). I am 6+3 now. what I don't know is if my local hospital(s) would be able to do the scan or if I would have to go to EPU which is over an hour away - which would be hard as have complex arrangements already with my 3 existing dcs. Anyone know? I have had a 6 wk scan before but we were living somewhere else so this question never arose.

I needed an early scan with my first pg at about 6 weeks because we thought things weren't going well and i was refered to the EPU for that. I had a scan at about 8 weeks with my second pregnancy because of the probs before, but that was done at my local hospital, not the EPU. So it might be that you're refered to the EPU if they think there might be a problem.
Check with your gp tomorrow, they'll be able to tell you.
Best of luck, hope everything is ok

Thanks pollyblue, that's interesting. Just trying to get my head round possible arrangements to be made for other dcs in advance! All made more complicated by nobody knowing about the pg yet - or even that we are ttc...
