Hi so my hcg has doubled within the guidelines up to last Tues when it was 19233 and then this Tues at 7 weeks it was 33901 so not even doubled in 7 days.. That cant be good news!!
i had a scan yesterday and they said baby was measuring smaller approx 6.2/3 instead of 7 but everything was seen...
Has anyone ever had good news with hcg like that and it taking so long??

Why are you measuring ?

I have had several miscarriages and also suffer anxiety anyway so have been measuring to try to reassure me everything was going to be ok

I’m sorry but madness lies this way. You can’t micromanage this as hard as it is. I’ve had three loses I understand the constant search for reassurance.

FoamShrimps · 19/02/2026 09:06

Bless you OP. Checking in this way when you do not have the medical knowledge to interpret the results is only going to make you more anxious. Due to your previous miscarriages your EPAU may offer you early scans, and I would take their advice. Sending love I know it must be hard but you are just going to stress yourself more by doing this.

Epu have done scans, the first when i should have been 6 weeks 1 it was measuring 1.9crl and they said approx 5 weeks but hb seen and then yesterday approx 6.6/7 weeks so 5 days later it was showing 5.1mm and approx 6.2/3... my dates arent wrong at all as I know lmp and when i got positive on preg test and did hcg from early on

FoamShrimps · 19/02/2026 09:13

I know it is hard but ultimately no amount of monitoring will change whatever outcome. If anything adding undue stress is not good for pregnancy. I hope you’ve some people around you for support, try talking to them

Kim170503 · 19/02/2026 09:19

Im not looking to change any outcome,,, I am looking for hope! Hence asking if anyone has had any good news with it

HCG should double every 2-3 days in very early pregnancy and a dip, decrease or slow increase are all signs of miscarriage BUT I wouldn’t lose hope because your numbers still look really good, have increased and now you are 7 weeks your hcg doesn’t have to double to prove a healthy pregnancy.

I can relate to the pregnancy anxiety. I think for your sanity stop testing your levels but if you can afford to book in a private scan to see what’s going on x

Kim170503 · 19/02/2026 13:23

Thanks, I have booked a private scan for next Weds so 7 days since the nhs epu scan.. that way I can see if still a hb and if baby growing or not.. most of my losses happen between 6-8weeks where baby has stopped growing or no heartbeat so at least that will tell me either way and they may be able to tell me gestation sac size and if hb what it measures.. epu dont bother doing that as soon as they see a hb so I dont know what its measuring other than crl was 5.1mm

My understanding is that the higher hcg gets the slower it climbs. Seeing a heartbeat is now much more significant than hcg levels. And it’s so so common to measure behind this early, until 8 or 9 weeks I was measuring behind and suddenly started measuring bang on (ivf so dates known). Another poster here recently was measuring behind and their next scan a week later was measuring perfectly. It really is a thing.

I really do hope so 🤞🏻 at same time im kinda guarding my heart just in case.

@Kim170503 completely understand. It’s how I function in my pregnancies, this is the first one that has lasted so long, but even before mcs I was very realistic with myself, though still crushed when it didn’t work out. Infertility is its own education. Maybe there can be two sides of yourself, one that protects themselves from a potential long fall, but another that enjoys at least in the here and now being pregnant. Maybe that’s a stance informed by years of trying to get pregnant in the first place. But it helped me get through even when met with bad endings.

tirednessbecomesme · 20/02/2026 07:02

I can understand your anxiety OP I’ve been there several times myself - that being said when HCG gets this high it doesn’t double every 48 hours and you should be more reassured by scans - your HCG was on the low side at what would have been 14DPO but then has doubled well since then - you’ve seen a heartbeat and are measuring within a week of your dates so there is much to be hopeful for x

I am pregnant via IVF, I was always led to believe that at 10 days past transfer (equivalent to 15dpo) hcg above 100 is ideal. So your HCG seems fine to me.

I googled hcg doubling and found this “hCG levels generally stop doubling every 48–72 hours and begin to slow down
around 6 to 7 weeks gestation, as the initial rapid, exponential rise starts to taper.”

Don’t worry about being a few days out on scans, it’s normal, at an early gestation it’s very hard to measure accurately anyway, so could just be a measurement error.

Stop doing the hcg tests now, it’s pointless, just focus on the scans as the most reassuring thing is that you’re measuring within a normal range and have a heartbeat.

Thank you! I am having a private scan on weds 25th at 11.40am to check how things are progressing and then I have another booked in the following weds at epu so fingers crossed

Oh your post said 16DPO it was 152 which would have likely made it less than 100 at 14DPO

tirednessbecomesme · 20/02/2026 18:28

At my IVF Clinic they looked for 100+ at 14 DPO and there are a few scientific studies about the success of pregnancies spending on hcg level at that point

tinybeautiful · 20/02/2026 18:31

It won't be doubling by 7 weeks (also only needs to be 70% increase anyway). You were a bit lower at 14dpo so that might be the few days behind. My 5m old was a week behind at 7 weeks and was an IVF baby so dates definitely right - he's here now so clearly was okay although nearly pushed me over the edge at the time!

Hotchocolate4 · 20/02/2026 18:37

Oh OP I’ve been in your shoes and the stress in early pregnancy is horrible. Sending you the biggest hug and baby dust.

MMC baby was measuring 2 weeks behind and although there was a heart beat it had sadly stopped in our next scan.

Current pregnancy I am now 16 weeks and baby was measuring a 3-4 days behind. I didn’t get my hcg measured as I had read sometimes the private clinic can be off. I cried through every scan, every appointment to date. It’s settling slightly but I am still a bag of nerves

Mine took a whole week or 6.5 days to get 75% more so thats why I was so worried!
