Screening for SMA

In light of Jesy Nelson’s recent news, and now seeing lots of children affected by it on my social media feeds, I am considering whether to get my baby screened for SMA soon after birth. Is anyone else considering this? Any ideas how to go about it?

I haven’t with either of mine but I know someone who recently had it done privately for about £800 so that is an option.

@FunnyHazelBiscuitthank you, I did have a look at that but unfortunately my hospital doesn’t do it

Don’t suppose you are in Scotland? It’s being added to NHS screening here from 23rd of March.

@Clefableno I wish I was - I think that’s absolutely brilliant!
