6 weeks pregnant. Intermittent episodes of pain this week followed by brown bleeding. Nothing seen on scan. Second set of hcg bloods today revealed static hcg at 670 therefore along with my left side symptoms they think it’s ectopic.

I’ve been told to go home for 48 hours and think about whether I want surgery or medical management. I am so so so frightened I am going to rupture at home and become incredibly ill.

My big episodes of pain were awful but inbetween i have had rumble/uncomfortable feelings. Some fluid was noted in my pelvis on scan. Wednesday can’t come quick enough. I don’t know which treatment route to go either.

Im terrified.

Hey, so sorry you're going through this. I didn't even know medical management was a thing with ectopic!
I had an ectopic back in 2014 but I was rushed down for emergency surgery as I was bleeding internally.
Sorry, I didn't want to scare you with that - but it was too late for me to have anything other.
The hospital must be confident that you have time to decide what you would like to do.
I'm so sorry, it must be so horrible being in the limbo like this. Maybe call and speak to them and explain how you're feeling, maybe somebody can help ease your nerves and talk you properly through your options Xx

I’m sorry OP, that’s really awful news. Just to give you my experience. I had similar to you and ended up with a methotrexate injection. However, it didn’t work and so I was offered either a second dose of methotrexate or surgery. I took the surgery. The surgery itself was fine- keyhole so recovered easily. I had to wait 3 months before TTC again because of the methotrexate but then got pregnant again pretty quickly and no problems. He’s now 4. I was told that losing one tube would have a minimal effect on my future fertility and (touch wood) that seems to be the case.

I guess my thoughts are not to be afraid of the surgery as an option. The good thing about it was that the surgeon was able to have a little look around and tell me that he could see nothing that would have caused the ectopic (e.g. undiagnosed endo or something). It was just bad luck. So that made me feel better about TTC again (although the anxiety is always there!). But it’s hard when you just want someone to make a decision for you! Good luck x

Hi @OneKookyRedFox just checking in. Hope you’re ok.

I had emergency surgery. It was fine. Traumatic because of the situation but you will have that either way. I got signed off work for a month. Not because of the surgery. Because I was traumatised by having lost a baby. Take whatever help you are offered and be kind to yourself.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. My bloods had dropped naturally today from 670 to 559 in the 48 hours so we have gone ahead with methotrexate treatment today.

fingers crossed it works
