Laboured breathing and nausea

I’ve been feeling short of breath but I’ve got an oximeter and it shows that my oxygen level is fine. I’m wondering if it’s related to nausea but then I’m a bit confused why nausea would make me feel short of breath / laboured breathing so wondered if anyone else had the same issue. Don’t wanna call the GP if it’s just normal or it’s just in my head…

Hey I have exactly the same and I have had it in all my pregnancies. How far along are you? I’m 13 weeks currently and some days it’s so bad I’m out of breath when sat on the sofa. Oxygen thing says all is ok too

How many weeks pregnant are you? Obviously a growing bump takes up space. Also as your pregnancy progresses your blood volume increases and your heart works harder. Shortness of breath can also be a sign of anaemia.

I’m only 7-8 weeks. I didn’t have that in previous pregnancy. I don’t suppose you saw doctors? Did you take Xonvea as well?

I’m still early 7-8 week. I possibly do have anaemia and I can’t take iron tablets now as I am so nauseous. I’ll follow up on that. Thanks for the idea.

No I didn’t take that med, I take cyclizine & prochlorperazine. I remember asking doctors in previous pregnancies and them not having an answer. I think they thought I was being dramatic if I’m being honest as they didn’t see it when it was really bad. It’s severe today, I got out of breath unloading the washing machine!

hae you had your blood pressure checked? I’m wondering if it could relate to that. Other than that I’m completely out of ideas.

its a struggle but we can get through it!

Might be unrelated, but have got been feeling anxious? I've had some pregnancy related anxiety and it can make my breathing more shallow at times, leaving me feel like I can't quite get enough air in. Box breathing really helps me with this. Just a thought.

Thanks, I did think of general anxiety as I don’t feel anxious but I’m wondering if it’s related to nausea, and when I am feeling nauseous I’m hyperventilating to try not to vomit maybe…

Did you find cyclizine helpful? My gp is suggesting me to try given Xonvea is making me really tired…

I also complained to my GP today about my symptoms, he wasn’t concerned, probably think I’m being dramatic too.

one thing I’m wondering is if it’s nausea driven, when if I feel nauseous, I get a bit worried that I’ll vomit and in turn I hyperventilate to compensate out of fear. Just a thought as well but would love to know what is causing it!

I had this all the way through my third pregnancy and my iron and ferritin was extremely low. Had to have iron infusions

I’m under a haematologist, I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago but haven’t heard the results back. Guess I’m not that bad, otherwise he’d call me in for an infusion but will keep an eye!

It’s 96-99. 93 is bad! I remember during Covid, I went in a&e when I was about 94 trending 93. Ended up in ICU for a week! Luckily survived and baby still went into full term.

They have quite a strict threshold for doing iron infusions and even though I was really poorly, I did actually have to wait for it to get slightly worse before anything could be done (I don’t tolerate oral iron).

yeah my mum wasn’t well at all.
glad it’s not that with you.
hopefully you get your blood results soon.
get a bp machine and keep an eye on that. mine was low and i felt awful.

acupuncture has a good track record with supporting pregnancy and can stop morning sickness snd all sorts of unpleasant symptoms. without drugs so it’s safe.
