Can’t stop eating?

I am in my first trimester 7 weeks and my gosh I can’t stop eating. I am a bit weight conscious as I was very petite before pregnancy , but now I feel I am going to end up so over weight after pregnancy. Sorry I know that maybe a shallow comment but I just wondered if anyone has else this where they physically crave bad food and can’t stop! If I don’t eat I feel so sick it’s like my body just wants me to keep filling it up with chocolate. The nausea comes on so strong when I get hungry (which is like 24/7) that I have to eat to stop feeling sick. I must eat triple the amount of what I did before pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I had no appetite and ate like a normal human being but honestly this is another level. Anyone in the same boat?

Rest assured this very normal! My advice would be to do what you have to to get through the first trimester. You may feel better in the second trimester and can focus on eating healthier food then. You may not feel like eating healthier at all until after baby’s born and honestly it doesn’t matter, you will put weight on and you will be able to lose it after if/when you feel ready

Thank you! I am so tired aswell everyone says try light exercise but honestly I don’t have it in me. I was so fit pre pregnancy I was at the gym 4/5 times a week now I just have no energy. Today I drove to the gym sat for about 10 mins in my car contemplating whether if had enough energy to go in and decided not too so drove home and got a massive chocolate bar on my way and ate in in literally 15 seconds I was hungry

Yeah I had this with my second pregnancy. You would have thought I’d never been fed before in my life, all I wanted was McDonalds double cheeseburgers and full fat coke. It did disappear once I got to my second trimester thank fully.

I’m 17 weeks pregnant at the moment and still feel absolutely wiped out, I get out of breath walking up the stairs and I regularly ran 15km+ pre pregnancy. It was the same with my first and the tiredness never really eased for me but I was able to build fitness back up afterwards. I can also relate to the inhaling a big chocolate bar in 30 seconds flat 😂 it’s easier said than done but try and just embrace it for a while it’s only temporary 😊

I agree with PP, all totally normal.

Currently a few weeks out from the end of my first trimester with second and in the throes of this now as well. It was the same with my first.

i just try to eat as well as possible when I do feel okay, and then if nausea hits and I get a hunger on then I allow myself to eat whatever will get me through.

My days are generally breakfast around 7am, elevensies or lunch at 11:30/45 if I can’t make it, then second lunch or big snack around 15:00 (😅) then make a bit extra for myself when making DS’s dinner and have something with him. Then, dinner with DH after DS has gone to bed. Plus snacks hahaha.

You do feel as if you are constantly eating but there’s a lot going on which you need energy for. And don’t worry too much about not exercising, you may find you regain the energy for this in the second trimester.

Just listen to your body, if it wants rest, then rest. If it wants to eat, then eat. Once the placenta is formed, the baby literally only takes the nutrients it needs so this can also help you feel a little bit better if you eat something a bit rubbish every once in a while.

Hahaha this feels soooo me!! 😆😆😆 It looks like I wrote this post! I am feeling EXACTLY the same! The only difference is that I’m tall! I’m 10 weeks now and craving pasta, panini, pizza, just carbs! I developed aversion to eggs which were my beloved companions after workouts and are recommended every day during pregnancy. The last week i didn’t want to smell, see, cook any protein at all! No fish no meat no eggs. Only cheese and yogurt are approved by me now 🤣 I’m also very fit, use to go to the gym 4/5 x week. Or should I say “I WAS”..?!? Now even a walk feels like a workout! I’m generally super energetic and active now I’m just lazy, I want to sleep and doing nothing. I drag myself to keep doing the bare minimum every day. Meantime I’m worried because NHS hasn’t still called me for my first appointment!! I had one privately at 6w and everything was perfect, I saw the heartbeat and all bloods and urines were great. But i cannot wait to check everything is proceeding well!!
