Baby should be 8 weeks, measuring 6 with slow heartbeat

Hi. We had our first scan on Monday, baby should have been 8 weeks but measured 6 and with a slow heartbeat. We are utterly devastated as we have so longed for baby no 2. We were told prepare for the worst and I’ve a follow up scan tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar? I’m 100% certain on dates.

Oh that’s horrible. I had an anomaly picked up at 20 week scan. I had to go for a further scan and then a MRI scan. The waiting was unbearable. Try to stay positive hopefully you will get some answers tomorrow.

Didn’t want to read and run. I had this with DC 3 - went along to an early scan (certain of my dates) expecting to see a baby of 8 weeks but instead it was measuring at just over 6 weeks, slow heart rate. Was told 50/50 and to wait a week. Went back after a week and DC3 had grown but still “slow”. Was told it didn’t look encouraging. He’s 6 years old now, still a diddy dot but perfect in every way. I really hope it works out for you, it was a really tough time not really knowing and trying not to get our hopes up. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for your reply. I guess tomorrow will tell a lot. I don’t know how people wait weeks to hear as I’m finding this few days so tough. We have grieved though as we were told it’s not looking good.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately it wasn’t to be for us this time. The baby’s heartbeat stopped by the time of the scan on Thursday. We are utterly heartbroken! We are trying to stay positive and manifesting that second baby we want so much. Fingers crossed we will conceive again soon as this has been such a difficult experience that I never want to go through, ever again.
