35 weeks and feeling crampy

I and 35 + 5 today and have been feeling period cramp on and off now for the past 2 days. It's very low, completely below the bump, so I don't know if it counts as BH or not. At times my legs also feel a bit numb as it often does when I am on my period. And getting occasional rectal pressures.

I'm not really concerned, just wondering if there are others with the same experience. Would love to hear from other moms / soon to be moms in the final stretch.

And starting to wonder if this baby is going to come early. I have a csection booked for 39 + 5 due to medical reasons, but suddenly starting to wonder if we'll make another 4 weeks. Eek!

Rectal pressure likely to be baby starting to engage in your pelvis. For me both times this happened weeks before birth and didn’t mean it’s imminent. You’ll have a midwife appointment at 36 weeks? She will be able to feel where baby’s head is and reassure you.

It sounds as though the baby has moved slightly lower, as pp says, the head could be starting to shift into your pelvis. It’s always worth getting checked over if you are worried though.

I’m 36+5 and I’ve been having similar pains below the bump area and around my pelvis and finding it quite difficult to walk but at the same time I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been overdoing it at work today (last day!!)

I also have my c section booked at 39 weeks and I’m worried I won’t make it by then.
Are you concerned enough to call triage or your midwife for advice? I was tempted last night as I had quite bad pains, it wasn’t contractions though because they werent often enough so I thought it might just be Braxton Hicks as they can mimic contractions.

Thank you for all the replies. I actually had a non-stress test on Monday and everything looked good. Interestingly though they picked up no uterine contractions, but I think this started only shortly after.

With my first I was so sure she was going to show up at 38/39 weeks, but ended up going all the way to 41 weeks so I should know better than to think every symptom is a sign of baby coming 😅

@lemonwrighty great that your leave is starting and you can take a bit of time to rest! I hope the pain goes away once you've had a few days to rest, but otherwise it is probably a good idea to have it checked out. I wouldn't say my cramping is really painful, just uncomfortable

Hiya I’m also 35+5 today. I was in hosp at 34 weeks with intense period pains and contractions. The hosp confirmed it was contractions and put me in a birthing room. They checked my cervix and was closed. After 10 hours the contractions stopped and didn’t get any worse so I was able to go home. I was then back in again on Monday with the same pains on and off all weekend. Again cervix was still closed and pains stopped so I went home.

still no baby and now just on edge with the pains coming back. They said could be irritable uterus but just have to see if it comes back and gets worse or not x

@RT1620 that sounds really rough! Having all the contractions and not knowing when the baby is actually going to come.

Good luck! I really hope things settle for the next few weeks so that you don't have to go through any more bouts of contractions before delivering a beautiful fully cooked baby.

I keep telling myself we are almost at the end now 🌻

Aww good luck op! Sounds like baby is getting lower and your body is getting ready for labour. You’re at that point in pregnancy where baby could come in days or weeks. I went in at 37 with intense period cramps and was contracting, but nothing happened and he was born at 39 weeks via elective c section!

Thank you all! 😄
