FRER no line progression but BFP on clear blue tests?

Hey everyone, my FRER lines are not progressing as they should be and I’m starting to wonder whether something isn’t quite right!
I’m 15/16 and 1/2 days missed period. I’ve been testing positive for 6 days in a row now. I’ve taken FRER using first morning urine, 48 hours apart and can’t see any line progression? The photo below shows 10DPO, 12DPO and 14DPO (top to bottom). However my clearblue tests, of which I’ve done many, are undeniably positive and not fading whatsoever?
I’ve had no bleeding but some period stye cramps and from my LMP I am approx 4weeks 2 days so still very early. Should I be worried this is a chemical pregnancy?

I would also worry about a chemical in your position just looking at the FRER’s. There’s no doubt whatsoever that you’re pregnant as the clearblue is very positive.

I would in your position ask GP for a 48 hour hcg test to put your mind at ease.

Line progressions can be a good way of knowing if things are heading in the right direction but I’ve also fallen into the trap of expecting the worst but my hcg was rising x

Unfortunately in the UK our GPs don’t offer that service and the early pregnancy assessment unit won’t carry out any scans or investigations until 6+ weeks unless they thought your health was in danger

You can pay privately either with an online clinic or a lot of private hospitals offer it just in case you wanted to. You could also try the pre mom tests as they are very reliable

@CBL9697Xthe CB looks so good! Do you take biotin? This can impact on the dye in the FRERS making them appear lighter.

@CBL9697X following with, I have also been in the same position and paid privately (in the UK) for HCG tests to check it was doubling. They were about £70 each test. In my experience, my chemicals were consistently faint across all brands of tests, and never got remotely close to the CB you have there.

I don’t routinely take biotin but I’ve started taking the pregnacare vitamins which I’ve just looked contained biotin so whether that could affect it? My clear blue ones are very dark and I’ve just done a digital and it has progressed from 1-2 weeks 5 days ago to 2-3 weeks this morning so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

That is good to know we can pay if needs be! Sorry to hear about your chemicals ❤️

@CBL9697Xthats great news on the weeks indicator! I never liked FRERS for progression tbh. I got much clearer progression from the easy@home or wondfo cheapie brands from Amazon… I am almost 17 weeks now with one that finally stuck, but had a lot of false starts along the way. Wishing you lots of luck! ❤️

@CBL9697X I think it's the biotin fudging the FRER lines. Exactly the same happened to me, I even posted on Reddit about it in a flap. I was (still am!) taking Pregnacare too.

My twins are due in 12 weeks 😂

Rayqueen2026 · 30/01/2026 10:40

Very possible a urine infection also very common in early pregnancy go get checked

Pennyroses · 30/01/2026 11:26

Maybe it's a dodgy batch of FRERs?? If every other test you do has a dark line and the weeks indicator is progressing then I'd ignore those other tests. Congratulations!
