trying to weigh up whether it is worth the agony of lying on either side....

it's to do with your arteries or something and the baby puts pressure on them.

chunkychips · 13/06/2008 21:36

if you don't feel any difference, then do it. It used to make me a bit breathless if I remember.

Baby squashes your internal organs, innit?

EffiePerine · 13/06/2008 21:37

pressing down on an artery: could make you feel faint.

it gives you piles

Rosylily · 13/06/2008 21:44

late on in pregnancy I went for a check up at the hospital. I was lying flat on my back with monitor on. The mw left me (with dh thank goodness) I started to black out. the weight of the uterus was blocking an artery.
I was able to tell dh as I was blacking out and he called back the mw. The baby's heart rate had dropped and I had to stay in overnight for observation.

All was fine but DON'T LIE FLAT ON YOUR BACKS!!!
