Normally a 30 day cycle

January 16th I took a clear blue ultra early test positive and the same on the 21st now I've had a negative rapid detection clear blue last night but not bleeding no pain no sign of period I'm so confused am I pregnant or not 😭

How old are you?
My periods started doing this in my late 30’s due to peri. Prior to that I had a very predictable 28 days cycle (no contraceptive, infertile DH), and had done since I was 12.

Edited because I meant 30’s.

Mamof5girls · 25/01/2026 10:40

I'm 35 periods normally bang on I've had positive tests this month but a negative last night so confused x

All test came up within 3 minutes and bluer than on phone my camera is not the best

Clearblue are not really reliable enough for a situation like this. They’re well known for their evap lines and flooding. An evening test would also be with very diluted urine and they work best with first morning urine so it’s concentrated.

Having said that, if you’re having multiple lines and your period hasn’t arrived, I think it’s worth looking into. Get a red dye test. At this stage, I’d expect a very clear, dark line for how long ago your period was (my last period last year was 16th December and I got my first positive on 7th January). It may be a chemical or a slow starter.

The only way to know is to get a different brand of test and/or a blood test. I hope it works out for you, whichever result you hope for x.

Hiya I've spoke to someone else and they're convinced I must be later on as I look pregnant apparently 😬 and it could be the hook theory so gonna go do one of those I had a stillborn last year and a chemical 6 months ago so hoping this is my happy ending x

I would probably ask for bloods done. By your periods, it sounds like you might be 12+ weeks which might not show on a test as too much HCG

Mamof5girls · 25/01/2026 17:00

Yes just done clear blue the same thest and they're negative now 😭

It would still show at gone 12 weeks. I did one out of curiosity when I was well over 12 weeks after one of these threads to see if I could see the Hook Effect in action, and whilst it wasn’t the dye stealers I was getting at 6 weeks, it was still a very clear dark positive.

I agree with PPs that you should seek out some red dye tests. If your cycles have been odd over the last couple of months and you have no real idea if/when you ovulated, red dye tests (e.g. Boots early pregnancy tests) are good for picking up early pregnancy, as I’d say that’s more likely than anything dating from December or earlier.

I am 19 weeks now and haven't had a positive test for weeks (but I have had scans etc in that timeframe so I know I am pregnant).

What works for one might be different for others.

I had a negative clear blue but I've just done it again with diluted urine and it's a faint line im so confused 🤔.

Did you not do any pregnancy tests before January? I think the hook effect is really unlikely. Maybe speak to the GP and ask for blood tests

Mamof5girls · 25/01/2026 18:07

Yeah I'm swaying maybe late Nov early December god knows my oh has a high sex drive so always at it🙈 going from other pretnancys I always ovulate round the 5th -8th so I could be early still god knows I'm driving myself crazy guess it's time to ring drs tomorrow see what's going on x

They all look negative to me

ToKittyornottoKitty · 25/01/2026 18:08

Also OP they look like evap lines, very faint and no colour, pictures taken after the recommended time. The pink test is probably more accurate

Mamof5girls · 25/01/2026 20:15

No I tested after I missed November period I think it was the 30th I tested and it was negative and just thought nothing of it then I bled on the 18th for a few days. I've come to the conclusion it could of been a chemical back then maybe and maybe a chemical again now been advised to wait a few days to bleed in the mean time to go drs tomorrow I'm still under bereavement midwife from my stillborn last January she has gone on maternity herself in October so not been able to spak to her

The ones on the bed they were taken after but the others were taken as they come up I've had a faint positive again now so God knows

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had two early losses in early 2024 and then lost my first son half way through the pregnancy in September 2024. There’s no pain like it, no one should have to feel that agony.

I hope this is your happy ending, but still encourage you to test outside of Clearblue. The Clearblue tests are not going to give you a definitive answer. You need a red dye test and/or a blood test, which can confirm HCG. There’s no point keeping doing the Clearblues. Most of them look like evaps, but the not knowing isn’t doing you any good with what you’re going through emotionally. Take care and let us know how you get on.

Mamof5girls · 26/01/2026 09:10

I think it was another chemical pregnancy I've just started spotting obviously not to be 😔 just waiting to see the Dr to confirm
