Burning pain??

Hi - I’m roughly around 8 weeks pregnant and for the last few weeks have had a burning sensation in my vagina, the best way I can describe it is like a UTI sort of feeling where you feel the urge to pee but nothing is there? But it also feels like it is burning and so sore!

At first I thought it was the Pregnacare I was taking as I had forgotten this over the weekend and the pain wasn’t there so I switched to taking just Folic Acid and Iron but it is still there!

It’s really starting to get me down and can be so painful it wakes me up such as this morning - I’ve been up with it since 2:30am and it isn’t easing at all.

I even thought it was thrush so I’ve applied Canesten cream for a couple of days but it’s obviously not helping.

When I told my midwife at my booking appointment a couple weeks ago she said it could be hormonal, this is stopping me sleeping it’s so painful! I’ve tried an e-consult with my GP however after ticking yes to pregnancy it doesn’t let me go further. I’ve tried 111 who were also useless and no help.

My next plan is to ring my GP this morning to see if they’ll let me in for a vaginal swab or something but just wanted to see if anyone has had this or similar?

Just wanted to clarify I have had 3 urine samples done too, all negative for a UTI.

Thank you xx

It does sound like thrush. Are you able to take the caneston tablet when pregnant? I've never managed to clear it with cream alone.

I’d googled this and apparently you can’t take the oral tablet when pregnant, I’ll tell them I’ve tried the external cream though.
It’s strange as it is not itchy at all, just extremely burning/sore feeling :(

Not sure if this helps at all but this happened to me from 8 weeks until 13. No thrush, no uti, but mainly at night I have burning which was in my opinion worse than any uti I’ve had! Just got me down and no one could work out why. It just went at 13 weeks. I feel like it was hormones or a weird pregnancy symptom.

I do think it’s important to speak to gp and look into thrush but yeah hopefully it goes! Second baby didn’t have this with my first

Thanks for the help ladies! I saw my GP today, she was massively against using anything internal or oral tablets so prescribed me more Canesten external cream to try. She also had me complete a swab test so I’m just waiting for those results to come back but it’s interesting to know I’ve not been alone as it truly is awful - I’d happily take a UTI over this! Xx
