Xonvea schedule

Had Xonvea prescribed. The first night I took 2 tablets at night, then next day, nausea is controlled but I felt literally like being hit by a bus. Then I halved it to 1 tablet, next day, felt pretty good for most of the day but quite nauseous in the later afternoon evening. Third day, I continued 1 tablet at night, again I felt like being hit by a bus and the nauseous was pretty bad from mid afternoon.

then doctor don’t seem to have too much opinion which way to take for max effect, all I was told is better to have less meds.

I was thinking to trialling one night and one morning or just morning alone. So wondered if anyone has feedback on if you take a morning, would it wipe you out even more during the day? And also has anyone tried just having a morning one and no night one, how’s the effect?

appreciate everyone is different but just wanted to hear some experiences!

I was on the max dose of xonvea for months (along with several other medications) and I did get used to the drowsy effect after a few weeks so it didn’t make me that sleepy anymore. I think the two at night was the most effective because the brunt of the drowsy effect is then when you’re asleep, but it is a case of experimenting and finding what works for you. Just keep in mind that your body can adjust to the drowsy effect if you persevere.

Also are you on any other anti sickness medications? Many women find a combination of drugs works better than just one, and if you are getting strong side effects with xonvea then maybe having another medication to take later in the day might work better for you?

For me the "hit by a bus" feeling went after taking it for a week. I was on Max dose.

I didn’t get any drowsiness on Xonvea, it just didn’t work for me at all. I had to use ondansetron in the end so keep in mind there are other meds that don’t make you feel like you’ve been hit by a bus. X

I am on the max dose of 4 a day and I personally only felt side effects for a few days. I know it can be normal unfortunately to feel like that for a couple weeks. I tried cyclizine but the side effects were too much for me so stopped.

So I believe xonvea is slow release, it can take 5-7 hours to “work”.

Give it a few more days, if you really don’t get on with it then maybe speak to gp x
