Belly ache - 12 weeks

Hey all. I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant and have my scan on Monday. I have had a scan at 9 weeks also.

Last 2 days I have been plagued with upper belly ache. It’s not like period cramps it’s more like belly ache when you’re a child so I’m pretty sure it’s related to digestion / gas / constipation but I guess I am also looking for re assurance to see if anyone else suffered?

Bit of background I have IBS so pre pregnancy I was having about 8 movements a day pregnancy has brought this down to one so I wonder if I am backed up. I am having movements admittedly small so I’m just unsure if the ache is this.

I would rate the pain as between a 3-5 out of 10 more annoying than anything.. I guess I’m just super nervous .

has anyone had anything similar?

I think the thing to remember is that not every symptom is necessarily linked to pregnancy, especially if it lasts less than 1 week it could be something you would have had anyway from IBS, eating something weird, odd bout of digestion issues, stomach bug that’s so mild it just produces an ache

I feel better when I don’t try and link everything to my pregnancy otherwise I’m like ahhhh a weird sneeze what’s up…when in Normal times I’d just brush it off! Xx

Thanks so much for your reply! That’s a really good way of thinking about things.
its been on a off today and only really when I eat so I do think it is digestion

It really helps me otherwise you spiral. I feel like a lot of mumsnetters are like - my first symptom was I was SO thirsty for an hour at 3dpo which is the same kind of thinking haha

Hope you feel better soon xx

Thank you! Much better today. Lots less belly ache and back to my usual gagging. Pregnancy is wild haha
