I suffered from very bad back pain last night and just couldn't sleep at all. I am 17wks pregnant and due in Nov 08. Anyone experienced backpain at/around this stage of pregnancy?

yes, every morning I hobble like an old lady out of bed! Bent double in pain...but it wears off.

Hey,
yeh i've had it since 4 weeks. I was convinced my period was coming, it was that painful. During weeks 4 - 12, it kept coming and going so i asumed i'd miscarry but im 17 weeks 2morro and still get it on and off! I put it down to the muscles and ligaments stretching and moving.

I'm convinced the baby sits of a couple of over sensitive nerves because i find that if i move quickly to the side, it moves him/her and then it eases off! Might just be me being crazy but hey, if anything works i'll try it!

Mention it to your midwife. I was given details of a class for women who suffered from back pain pre-21 weeks, so your hospital physio may provide some classes/info/exercises to help.
Good luck!

Hi Vio - I am also 17 weeks pregnant and have had really bad back for the past 10 days, spoke to my consultant and he said it was very common for this stafe of pregancy and due to relaxin (not sure whether spelt that correctly!!) hormones kicking in, I have been seeing a chiropractor and back pain has just starting to ease today - was getting very bad pain straight up my spine whenever I walked more than 100 metres. I would speak to your midwife or Dr and ask to be referred to a physio or find a local chiropractor - mctimoney chiropractors are very gentle - www.mctimoney-chiropractic.org/ Hope you feel better soon.
