I hit a very bad pot hole today whilst driving. It really shock me up and I cried instantly (35 weeks pregnant) my two year old even commented and said crash. I've been driving 12+ years and never got that shaken over a pot hole before.

I felt baby move instantly and have since. Babies movements have hurt my stomach a little but my stomach could just be tender.

I did call triage and she reassured me that it would be a car crash etc they would be concerned about and to look out for discharge, bleeding etc. She also reassured me I am not the first person to call today about pot holes so she said it must be a thing in the area today.

Has anyone else experienced this before in pregnancy and everything ok? Xx

Hi there, not while driving but the seat came off my bike when I was 4 months pregnant and I ended up flying off it and landing on my butt and going for a scan next day. But it was alright. I'd say if you're really worried and can't calm down, get checked simply for your peace of mind. I'd (truthfully) say my stomach hurts if it makes it easier to get scanned.

Not sure what this means. Did your car impact so badly that the seatbelt tightened and your stomach is now tender as a consequence? If so, I'd go and get checked out.

If on the other hand, you are very anxious as a consequence, and it's Braxton hicks kicking in, then I'd monitor as they've asked. Have a small glass of icy water every hour or so and check that the baby is moving around [assuming that's a trigger for activity for your baby - mine would start tap dancing if I ever sat down for a break]

Can you ask triage to check you over just to help with your anxiety?
