Hi guys,

I am looking fpr advice and although the midwives are good and giving advice I sometimes feel like I need to seek experiences from people who have been through pregnancy with a cerclage.

I have an anterior Placenta and havent felt movement yet in my abdomen, however I have had a couple of instances where I have felt a bubble sensation or swoosh feeling very low down almost in my cervix/stitch. Did anyone experience this? Im anxious after 2 prior losses in the 2nd trimester so not sure if im over analysing every tiny thing.

I had two early miscarriages then a second trimester loss of my first son at 19+3. I’m so sorry for your losses :(.

In my next pregnancy I had an emergency stitch at 18+6 and made it to 32+6 before my waters went. Baby boy was born at 33+1 and is currently asleep in my arms.

I had a lot of pressure down low many times and scans showed the stitch was holding fine and it was just baby’s head down. I occasionally felt like a scraping sensation around my civic because his hands were up my his face and that was unnerving. I only once felt like a gentle bubbling sensation and that was when my waters went. They went gently and leaked, but it was obvious.

I’m not saying that to scare you, clearly what you’re feeling is different. What I would say though is if you have any concerns at all, don’t be afraid to go to triage. Whether the midwives understand or not is almost irrelevant as they won’t unless they’ve been there themselves. In my experience, they were not experienced with stitch patients. Doctors are a bit more clued up and can do exam/organise a cervical scan if you have concerns. Wishing you all the luck!

Thanks for replying, I had 2 loses at 19+3 weeks and this is my first with a stitch and even though im past the point of last pregnancies I know im over analysing everything. Was the gentle bubble sensation you had persistent? Ive had it twice but about 5 days apart. I went to triage the first time provided a urine sample and doppler and they said they think its just movements as doctor was in surgery.

Bless you, I’m so sorry for your losses, no one should have to go through it.

The bubbling I had was only the one time, I never had it any other time than the night my waters went. I think everyone’s experiences are so different though - I also lost a big chunk of mucus plug at 24 weeks, but exam showed I was closed and no labour started. I PPROMed at 32+6.

Hey @Flora26 just wanted to say hello, I haven’t been through it myself with a cerclage, but am going through it right now without cerclage as they attempted it on Tuesday and it failed, so on progesterone only. Just wanted to offer whatever support I can, I’m only 17 weeks and, well, terrified. (My cervix is 11-14mm already and have had previous significant lletz which is my reason).

Trying to straddle hope and...well, just trying to be hopeful. I’ve only had early losses and can’t image the pain of your two late losses, I’m so sorry. This will be my last pregnancy (it took 5 ivf rounds) so I’m praying for luck. @KittyFantastica has been so supportive and kind to me ❤️ Sorry my message isn’t particularly useful, I just couldn’t help wanting to say hello.
