Fetal movements? 🤷🏼‍♀️ how to identify?

I am almost 20 weeks pregnant and yet to feel movements but I have had an odd sensation today. While resting and too lazy to move i gave my pelvic floor a squeeze with a full bladder and felt a small jab to the bladder. There was no pain at all almost felt like a reflex. I am not sure if this was just a muscle spasm or fetal movements. How do you know?

You really will know when you feel it - it's like nothing else - a sort of rolling movement. It's very distinctive.

On my first I'd say I was a good week trying to figure out if what I could feel was actually movements or in my head. It wasn't until I started to feel a rolling motion that I knew for definite.

I also had an anterior placenta and felt nothing until at least 20 weeks. Nothing regular and consistent until probably 23/24 weeks.

I am 18 weeks now again and anterior placenta again. No movements so far either (but have had multiple scans and the baby is very active).

Were you ever told the position of your placenta during a scan?

I'm 21 weeks and I think I've had some movements. They feel a bit like bubbles in water and also a bit of a pulsing movement! The midwife said this was totally normal at my 20 week scan.

I have an anterior placenta so I'm not feeling too much, but she did say we should be in full flow by 24 weeks and would feel the kicks ☺️

Yes, I remember from my 2024 pregnancy thinking it was like little parts or gas bubbles in my stomach for ages 😂

@BudgetBuster I did say to the midwife I wasn't sure if it was Christmas, or baby 🤣

I’m 38 weeks with my third, but this has been my first with a posterior placenta and it’s been sooo different! I hardly ever felt a thing with my other two, but this time I’ve been feeling things since about 21 weeks, DH has been able to feel some kicks and there have been lots of visible stomach movements. It’s been a novelty, lovely, but also pretty uncomfortable over the last couple of weeks!

Anterior placenta for both pregnancies here and didn’t feel definite movements with first till around 23 weeks and 20 weeks with second annoyingly! They started for me as little twitches almost like eye twitches in my uterus? I never really had the ‘flutters’ but they quickly progress into much more definite pokes and prods. I’m 38 weeks now and movements are high rollls and stretches that can take my breath away at times🥴
