Someone please help me out- been invited to work do, will only be 8 wks pg, & don't want to tell anyone till at least 12wks. Had to pre-choose starters today & the choices were-
Deep fried brie
Liver pate
Mussels or
Prawns!!!
I know it's not the end of the world to not have a starter, but i read somewhere that it's ok to have cheeses such as brie as long as they're cooked. Anyone know if that's true, or shall i just stick to a lime & soda???
TIA xx

I second the cheese, but a rather poorly thought through menu, nothing for the plain-likers at all

Would 1 portion of anything really have a serious affect?
Only thinking like this coz Ive just found out I'm pg, bit compliated so not sure how far along but I had prawns on monday and liver and mash on sunday plus drank alot over w/e and hope it won't have any affect

The rules on seafood change by country. E.g. in Denmark, where it's almost impossible to avoid prawns, they are fine. I followed Danish rules when I was in DK at 8 weeks pg

Prawns are fine - in fact they are great in pregnancy, very low mercury & high protein. The brie would be okay also.

good to hear about brie...have wondered myself

prawns and mussels are fine if cooked through and piping hot (just to reduce risk of food poisoning)...liver is supposed ot be bad because of Vit A but can't imagine one portion of pate will do much
