Cyclogest whilst BF?

Hi,
I am under RMU and have previously been prescribed cyclogest till 12 weeks which helped with my rainbow baby. I have now found out I am pregnant again and been told to stop taking progesterone which I started from positive test as I am still BF? The clinic didn’t know I was BF and told me to start from positive test I only started a few days ago, I wondered if anyone has used Cyclogets whilst BF? Or a form of progesterone for recurrent miscarriage support whilst BF?

I don’t know I should just reduce my dose as I am anxious about stopping and going through loss - any experience or advise would be appreciated ? Thank you

I stopped cyclogest about 2 weeks ago. Currently 18 weeks pregnant. Breastfed rhe entire time and my Maternity unit knew this.

As far as I know the only affect is that the additional progesterone can cause a dip in supply. But this can happen with pregnancy anyway.

I'm finished it now but still breastfeeding.

Never heard of it not being safe? What was their reasoning?

@BudgetBuster thank you for your reply.
The nurse I spoke with said because research is limited, they don’t know how this could affect my ds as the progesterone gets in to the milk so they do not advise/prescribe it. The medication itself also says not to use when breastfeeding.

congrats on your pregnancy! maybe units have different policies, it’s reassuring to know they had no issue with you using it during BF. Googling around there’s a few pieces I’ve found saying it’s fine and it’s due to licensing so it’s hard to know what’s right.

I am hoping this one sticks too but I’m so anxious to stop the progesterone I am tempted to reduce the dose and carry on until my
viability scan.
