Carobel & Omeprazole

Hi,
My 4 week old was prescribed Carobel for reflux a few days ago, since then the doctor has added Omeprazole but never said to stop the Carobel.
Since giving her the Omeprazole and a feed with Carobel in she’s been so unsettled and screaming like she’s never screamed before. Googled and it said the two should not be used together.

Has anyone else been prescribed both for their baby? And if so, how did your little one react to it?

thanks 🙏

Not sure on if they should be used together @Anon1225. I’m wondering though if your LO could have CMPA. Do any of these symptoms sound familiar?

Can I ask which milk she’s on too?

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.

My daughter had a thickener with omperazole. She's allergic to carob but had gaviscon which works in the same way..

Omperazole works by reducing the amount of acid the stomach produces. What can happen when you first start it is called an "acid battle" as the body tries to over rule the medication and produces more acid. Also you will be on the starting dose of omperazole and that often isn't sufficient to manage the symptoms of reflux.

How are things tonight @Anon1225? Flowers
