Later Movements Second Pregnancy

I’m 18w3d with my second pregnancy, a boy.

I’ve felt some movements, I definitely felt some flutters at about 15w and then I’ve felt two definite movements since then. I think I’ve felt some other little ones in between but I couldn’t be 100% sure.

I had two scans at 16w and he was moving loads in both, but I couldn’t feel it. He was laid face down and slightly angled towards my back.

I know it’s too early to feel regular movements really but DD is 18m and I’d felt her move loads by now, I’d even felt a kick from the outside.

Everything I see online says that most people feel more movements earlier in their later pregnancies.

Has anyone had similar? Should I be worried or is this just completely normal?

I'm 29 weeks with my 2nd and was filled with doubts around then too! I felt baby earlier, but then I might go a few days without feeling as much. You don't need worry about a change in regular movements until after 24-26 weeks. For now, enjoy when you can feel it!

I felt baby later second time around, but I had an anterior placenta. I'll bet tomorrow/the next day you feel loads, sods law! Congratulations!

I’m on my third pregnancy, and even though my placenta is at the back, I’ve felt movements later in this one than my first. And baby is moving plenty on the scans. I’m now 20 weeks and still just the occasional flicking feeling inside. It’s been really weird as I thought I’d feel more. Baby is growing perfectly though.

Thank you, you've reassured me. I think I felt some little movements last night/this morning but I still not 100% sure! Hopefully he starts moving around loads soon and I'm complaining about being kicked in the ribs/bladder then 😅

I had an anterior placenta second time around and I had a 5 year age gap and I think it took me longer to twig what was movement and what wasn't second time around. I think it was possibly a bit of "yay, I can feel baby" first time around and second time it was "don't be daft that's just digestion" so whilst movement might have been similar how I was categorising it was different!.

Even once movements were established they were quite different to my first. My first had lots of pushing movements and limbs outwards. Once I was further along I could often grab hold of her feet. Second was more frantic and almost violent with movements but internally and not coming out
