Ectopic pregnancy or false positive

over the last week I have had a pain in my shoulder, not constant but every day. I had unprotected sex last month so I did a pregnancy test yesterday morning and it was positive. All other tests have been negative (have not been morning wee) I’ve been experiencing a pain in the back of my leg too which is getting more and more uncomfortable.

(I’ve had 2 kids already so aware of early pregnancy symptoms) I’m more tired and bloating constantly.

i went to the doctors yesterday to which they did a urine sample test and was also negative there.

im waiting for blood tests to confirm but I can’t help but panic there’s something more.

i just wanted to see anyone else’s experiences on ectopic pregnancies

I'd say it was likely a false positive. Only because an ectopic that is large enough to cause any physical symptoms will almost certainly be producing enough HCG to produce a positive urine test. Did they take your bloods at the GP to be sure?

They’re testing bloods on Thursday which would put it at 4 weeks if so. I wasn’t sure if it was just too early to detect

It could be a very early pregnancy that isn't testing regularly passive on urines, but if so I don't think it's likely your symptoms are related to an ectopic. Try trading again in the morning and see.

When I had a ruptured ectopic the shoulder pain felt like someone was trying to rip my arm out of my shoulder! Dramatic I know but it was that painful!
I was 4 weeks pregnant at the time so when people tell you it’s too early to rupture (I’ve seen people say that on MN) my advice would be trust your gut. I had no bleeding. Before the shoulder pain it felt like bad indigestion.
The shoulder pain indicates it’s already ruptured (they told me it’s something to do with the internal bleeding touching a nerve that links to the shoulder 🤷‍♀️) so if in doubt seek medical attention asap. Obviously I had the tube removed.

A couple of years later I had another ectopic in my remaining tube. Similar symptoms but without the shoulder pain. I had the injection to “dissolve” that one.

Edited to clarify the second one they caught before it ruptured.
