Asked to go back for 20 week scan

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I had my 20 week scan last Thursday, sonographer didn’t have any concerns except for baby’s feet, baby had his legs crossed the whole time and on some angles the sonographer was concerned about him having one club foot

I have another appointment this Thursday with the consultant for a further scan, is this something to worry about? They seemed quite adamant that I needed a further scan as soon as possible which is slightly concerning, I assumed it he did have 1 club foot this couldn’t be corrected until he was born anyway so why the urgency?

Thanks x

Try not to worry. It'l be the sonographer wanting to cover themselves in case it's deemed they've missed something.
After my 20 week scan I got referred to fetal medicine as they said my baby had too much fluid around its heart. Had my appointment and it was all fine. The babies position in the original scan made it look like there was extra fluid but there wasn't.

Thanks for your response, I am hoping I will go on Thursday and all will be fine, my mind has just gone into overdrive!

I had exactly this with DS2 and he was absolutely fine, sometimes they just can't get the right angles for the scan but it still needs to happen in the correct window.

He's a very sporty, active 10 year old now.

Yep, don't worry, the sonographer has to get certain angles and be confident about certain pieces of data. Sometimes baby's position stops them getting that the first time so they ask you to come back.

Agree with PP's I had to go back with DD as the sonographer couldn't see everything due to her position - essentially they have a checklist of what they need to see and if they can't see it you need to go back and try again. In my case it worked out quite well as it just as covid restrictions were being lifted so DH couldn't come to the first 20wk scan but they'd changed the rules by the time I had the second one a few days later so he was able to come.
