I was prescribed nitrofurantoin as the lab picked up a certain strain of uti and I’m allergic to penicillin so this is alternative I believe . He did mention a risk of some type of anemia or something in newborn in 3rd trimester , reading online it seems to be only later in 3rd but some conflicting just says 3rd trimester . I had my daughter early so worried il have this baby early too . If he gets this from the antibiotics will my baby be really sick from this or is it something that can be treated ? Already took my first tablet earlier and don’t know if I should continue . I plan on speaking to pharmacy tomorrow but for tonight hoping someone can calm my anxiety 🙃

Research suggests that it is past 36 weeks it can cause a small risk of hemolytic anaemia for baby but since you are 32 weeks it is likely to be very safe. I took it in both my pregnancies and both babies were completely fine. I was told the risk of an untreated UTI was much higher than the use of this antibiotic as UTIs can cause premature labour if left too long... not saying that to scare but just to inform of what I was told.
