Ultrasound scan whilst unwell

Hi, I’ve got my 12 week scan on Wednesday. I’ve woken up today with a blocked nose. Do I need to reschedule my scan? What can I take to clear my nose?

I wouldn’t reschedule if I were you. And I wouldn’t take anything for the blocked nose orally but consider a menthol stick or vaporiser and keep up your fluids.

No I wouldn’t cancel for that but you could wear a face mask to reduce risk of spreading germs.

I don’t think you can take anything during pregnancy apart from paracetamol, so get yourself some olbas oil or Vicks

I wouldn’t cancel unless you start to feel super unwell and anything to suggest it would be flu vs a bit of a cold. You can use a saline nasal spray but I’ve never found them anywhere near as good as the proper ones that you can’t take during pregnancy unfortunately - worth a try though. Otherwise, olbas oil, Vicks and maybe even a humidifier. Hope you feel better soon!
