Intense sense of smell final weeks of pregnancy

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

I’m 36 weeks and for the last couple of days my sense of smell has been SO strong. A diffuser I can normally never smell I’ve had to remove from the living room as it is suddenly bizzarly intense, same with the fabric softner smell from washing on the clothes horse and last night I could smell my husbands beer when he was downstairs and I was upstairs in bed😳

I do remember when I was pregnant with my first 7 years ago smelling a diffuser really strongly shortly before going into labour but annoyingly I can’t remember if it was days or weeks before and it would be nice to know if the two are linked and heightened sense of smell is a sign for me that labour is approaching😬

Same for both pregnancies but it developed a few months in. Had to buy an air purifier as everything in the house turned on me. As bizarre as it sounds, I am sure I could smell blood so being around women in work was interesting!

It does die down but hasn’t completely left me. Nearly 20 years later and I cannot tolerate so many smells - most cleaning agents, body sprays and deodorants are banned in my home. I am also hyper sensitive to cooking smells - compost bins that are filling up (I can smell from our attic room 2 floors above!). Never looked into why this is, but I’d be interested!

Ah yes. Taking the cat to have her anal gland drained whilst pregnant. Vomited violently into the vet’s sink. Oops.

I had a crazy strong sense of smell up until about 15 weeks when my nausea went as well. But since around 30 weeks it's back, the nausea and sense of smell. I walked in to a small shop and could smell the man behind the counter's breath! I read somewhere that symptoms could return later on. I'm now 36+2 and I'm hoping she doesn't come early!

Yep! Had it in the first trimester and now 36 weeks and last night almost heaved at the smell of the blood from DHs steak, and today everything just stinks 😂
