Currently on Labour ward after 1st gel and def having some stronger Braxton hicks/mild contractions. What were peoples experience. I’m only 36&4 second baby.

My experience was positive - gel about 9pm, contractions started 11ish, baby arrived about 9am in the pool. All went well - just needed gas and air. Best of luck!

Another positive experience here, also second baby. 37+0, 1 pessary and I started having contractions a few hours later, baby born after a 12 hour labour.

Thanks guys. I’m def having some kind of something that’s getting more intense. Had gel at 7.30 and pains started about an hour ago. Really skeptical about it all but fingers crossed.

Sounds like Labour to me. Don’t let them fob you off - my midwives were ‘so sure you can’t go into labour that quickly after 1 pessary’ I was only taken to labour ward when crowning.

Thankfully I’m on Labour ward. Not sure why but they brought me round before we even started. Think maybe new year da day staffing. Yes they def feel like contractions. 🥴they said they’ll start me on the drip if I’ve not made enough progress. Have PROM at 32 weeks.

Did either of you use tens machine?

I found it helped to stay off the bed for as long as possible, I just walked around which helped quite a bit.

Ok before they start the drip ask to be examined (if you want). They told me I needed the drip with DC1 (also induced) when looking back I was making fine progress (I was 5cm dilated after 6 hours) and I suspect they just wanted to hurry things along and get the room back. The drip is extremely painful, limits movement and should be an informed decision.

She arrived at 2am. I got the same sense that they wanted me on the drip to speed it up and get me out but managed on my own. It was very intense but very fast.
