Hi all,

I recently had an early pregnancy scan at 7 weeks and all went well at the beginning, baby measuring on schedule and good heartbeat. It took a turn when the sonographer was concerned it had an implanted in a my old c section scar. I was sent straight to Fetal medicine and the consultant there was happy it was not a c section scar pregnancy but explained risks of low lying gestation sac and placenta previa and accreta. I’ve had two previous sections. I’m back in two week when il be 9 weeks to see how things are.

does anyone have any experience of this and was everything okay in the end ?

my background .. ds1 born normal vaginal delivery. Then I had a traumatic second pregnancy , a large subchorionic haemorrhage from the get go, placenta previa which ended in hospital admission at 23 weeks, blood transfusion as an in patient, all ending in an emergency section at 25 weeks and a neonatal death. it was horrendous.

i was very lucky to get pregnant about 14 months later, an uncomplicated pregnancy and an elective section and healthy baby girl 🩷

I don’t think I can do another traumatic pregnancy.. im torn whether to end the pregnancy and try again and hope
for a better implantation placement ? Or continue and hope for the best ?

i’m also in Ireland so
only have till 12 weeks to decide.

That all sounds horrendously difficult. I'm so sorry. 💐

Maybe just wait until the 9-week scan before thinking further? It might show that everything's fine. At least you will get more information then.

Hugs xxx

Hi OP. I had placenta praevia with my first pregnancy. Just had to have a C section but everything was fine.

See how the 9 week scan goes. In the meantime prepare yourself for the worst, and what you might have to decide. But hopefully you won't need to make that decision and all will be fine.

No one will condemn you for not being able to go through with another abnormal pregnancy.

Three c sections is risky so speak to an obstetrician. I would just stick with the children you already have due to the risks to you. I understand this can’t be an easy decision though and sorry to hear about the second pregnancy

Thank you all for your replies. They were much appreciated. I had my scan today and it ended in a missed miscarriage. You’d think
I’d be relieved but I just feel desperately sad, I just naively hoped things would be okay. Thanks for your words, hopefully next time we’ll get a safer implantation 🩷
