When did your bump show in your second pregnancy?

Because I'm just over 5 weeks gone and there is a very noticeable bump. There is no way I'm going to be keeping it secret for much longer!

it is probably either water retention or the fact taht it is your second pregnancy and unless you went to the gym after your first and tightened up those ab muscles, they will still be loose from the first pregnancy. this is common.

Oooh wasn't expecting that, I'm 5 months with 3rd and no one has noticed yet, if I haven't told them. It does look obvious to me. I notice these days that due to fashions and people getting fatter that loads of women look about 6 months gone anyway and aren't so I wouldn't worry too much. I just told my boss last week and they had not suspected a thing but I was paranoid as couldn't get into normal clothes.

Sadly in subsequent pregnancies you are more prone to bowel bloating in early pregnancy which makes you look a lot more pregnant early on than you were. I had a bump at week four and looked huge till about week 10.

Of course now I am huge but that's because I'm 33 weeks!

bethoo · 11/06/2008 13:43

my first did not show til 30 too and i am now 24 weeks and got a neat bump.

appledumpling · 11/06/2008 13:44

Well, I did go to the gym but I obviously did too much talking and not enough exercising .

Not until 5 months really.

theyoungvisiter · 11/06/2008 13:44

I had a small bump at about 6/7 weeks and a very noticeable one by 12 weeks!

My first pregnancy didn't show until about 4/5 months.

I think my tummy muscles had not recovered from first time and there is nothing to hold back the bulge!

MamaMaiasaur · 11/06/2008 13:48

I could feel it at about 6 weeks but it was definitely noticable at about 9 weeks.

slinkiemalinki · 11/06/2008 14:46

About 23 weeks.

MrsMattie · 11/06/2008 14:47

I've had a bit of a bump since 10 weeks, although I was wearing my jeans unbuttoned under a long top at about 7-8 weeks! I'm now almost 16 weeks and as big now as I was at 22 weeks with my son!

heron22 · 11/06/2008 14:59

i am now 7 weeks (2nd child) and there is no difference at all. sometimes i wish there was, cos i feel so normal (except for the tiredness and puking and sore boobs) that i sometimes forget i am pregnant!

pregnantpopcornprincess · 11/06/2008 15:09

I'm 6 weeks and in my maternity clothes. This is my 4th pregnancy (but only one child, the others were mc)so i think that makes a difference as my muscles are shot!

MrsTittleMouse · 11/06/2008 15:11

Really struggled to keep things secret second time around. By 6-8 weeks I had a definite bump, by 12 weeks I was resorting to all sorts of weird fashion tricks to try to stop people guessing.

mollysawally · 11/06/2008 15:12

Does it make a difference if you had a c-section with yoour first?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/06/2008 15:18

i am worried as i am 16 weeks with no3 and no sign yet. can feel bump inside if i sit in various positions etc, but not sticking out, more sticking inwards....

pregnantpopcornprincess · 11/06/2008 15:48

Lady - are you tall? I've been told that makes a difference and that tall people show later as there is more room to fill upwards rather than outwards. please don't worry. I'm sure everything is fine. How long did it take for you to show with your last two?

Tinasan · 11/06/2008 16:20

I'm about 5 or 6 weeks with my second and haven't been able to do any of my trousers since the day before I found out. Went and bought a belly band thing yesterday, something I didn't need the first time around! It's obviously not the baby, it's the bowel thingy somebody else mentioned... . I'm small about 5'4 and small-boned (about a 6 or 8) and I think this is why you show earlier too. With my first pregnancy people were standing up to offer me a seat on the tube at 14 weeks

LadySanders · 11/06/2008 16:28

i was showing by 12 weeks with ds2, had rounded belly where had previously been pleasantly pilates-d and flat!

EachPeachPearMum · 11/06/2008 17:09

Am 9+ weeks with 3rd pg (1 mc)- just went into maternity trousers today -have a noticeable bump, but don't want people at work to know just yet.
Am wearing loose baggy tops/smock tops.
I am very small though, so not much room for baby inside- dd was all on the front, and my bump was mahoosive, she was teeny though.

FoghornLeghorn · 11/06/2008 17:34

I am currently 31 weeks with #3 and only really got a bump at about 25 weeks.
I really think it varies from person to person

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/06/2008 17:47

Not til 20 weeks, when I finally felt confident that the PG was not going to go wrong (lost 2 btween Ds1 and DS2) so let my breath out I spent 20 weeks sucking it in Ouff !

Look at how different we all are. Aww

prideandprejudice · 11/06/2008 18:00

About 5mins after conception with both of mine, but definitely more noticeable and earlier with the second. But then I put on 2 stone in first trimester with both of them.

pelvicflawed · 11/06/2008 18:00

I'm six weeks with 2nd and feel really bloated round the middle and am sure I look a bit tubby in that area (more than I did a few weeks ago anyway) - then a friend complemented me on Monday on how slim I was looking - I blushed inwards as I'm not letting on at the moment - so I've put my tubby tum perhaps down to my personal paranoia about showing!!!!!

cluttercup · 11/06/2008 18:06

..about teatime ...
