Hey, I'm a teacher as well 🙂 due date at the mo at 1st aug (based on dates not scan). I'm not in a school, just privately tutoring. Planning to go back in sept so it's going to be tough! But this is my fourth and did it with others. Managed to have all kids in the summer hols

Congrats on your first.

@WherestheteenguideI’m due Aug 2nd based on scan at 8 wks!
I feel like the Christmas holidays have come at the right time as I am SO TIRED!
it means I can rest guilt free and also don’t have to explain absences to the team. I’ll be 10.5 weeks when I go back so will be not far off telling people.

I work in a nursery

Definitely do SPL. Pay the lady on the website to do it - the paperwork is an absolute blag so totally worth it.

Good luck. I was a HoD before going off with my second child and ended up stepping down for my return from mat leave. Couldn’t handle the insane workload and actually be present for my kids. Missed so much of my eldest’s early years because of school pressures and workload. In my experience, despite the popular perception, schools are incredibly difficult places for working mothers.

Thanks. I’ve got a great team, so hoping to carry on as HOD but we’ll see! X

Hi, I’m also a HOD and currently 12 weeks pregnant with my second. It’s been a tough term! I also have pregnancy insomnia which has made the last few weeks really difficult. I haven’t told anyone at work yet but now I’ve had my scan I’ll let them know when we return.

I went back to work 4 days a week after my first and it’s worked really well, but like you I have a great department which has helped.

I echo the previous posters in the recommendation to do SPL. My first was a summer born as well and I felt slightly aggrieved that I ‘lost’ my wage over the summer and went to maternity pay. I feel like we work for the year for our July and August pay!

yeah It’s tough sorry you’ve had insomnia that sounds tough
I got 11 hours last night and still was exhausted today. If the symptoms don’t ease I’ll have to tell people something when I return!!

I actually had some medical stuff they knew about last term which I let them assume was the issue with a couple of sick days this term…but I don’t think they’ll swallow that still being the issue by Jan 5th!!
