Planned csection at 41 weeks?

I had an elective section booked for 40 weeks which is next Tuesday, this has been ‘provisionally’ booked since I was 12 weeks pregnant as I have had a section previously.

I’ve just received a message saying it’s now been pushed back another week, at which point I will be 41 weeks. Is this safe? I thought that 40 weeks was pushing it for a planned section anyway.

I had mine at exactly 41 weeks and all was fine, however can you ask to be notified of any cancellations? I said I was getting anxious and they gave me a cancellation (my original booking was at 42 weeks!)

Hmm I would not have been comfortable with that but then I was a slighter older mother than the average and could not risk placenta degradation.

What would be the plan if labour starts naturally before then?

If labour starts naturally I presume they will put my on the list for that day? I don’t have any more community midwife appointments either as they have presumed I will be having the csection this date.

No one has actually spoken to me about it. All communications have been via text!

Does it perhaps have something to do with the reason you’re having a section? Because otherwise it’s far too late I would have thought, I went 11 days over with my first but my other 2 were born 5&7 days before their due date so would have been pointless to schedule after 38/39 weeks.
If you go into labour naturally before then are they suggesting you don’t have the section?

I had a section within the last two years which is why I’m having another so it’s not due to an issue with the baby as such. I don’t have any more midwife appointments now as they had presumed I would be in for the section, so I’m worried as I won’t have been seen since 37 weeks!

From a medical point so so many woman go overdue it’s completely normal and the risks of anything happening are so minimal

From a personal point of view I’d phone and say I’m not happy and that I want my c section at 40 weeks.

I would love to phone and ask that but they provide no numbers and the antenatal clinic haven’t answered my calls all morning!
